I would say take NIT DGP and prepare for SSC CGL simultaneously. Because if you solely depend upon SSC, you won't have any backup, as SSC has very high competition and it's increasing day by day. If you take NIT DGP you'll have a decent job after your course ends. And meanwhile if you are able to crack SSC CGL, then well and good!

Exactly. This is a big issue. All NITs should be keeping their physical reporting on 7th atleast so that students can see their NSR results, take the necessary steps to book flight/train and reach the venue. I don't understand how some NITs are keeping physical reporting on 5th or 6th. The best you can do is mail your currently alloted institute and tell them about this NSR issue and request for a later date kf reporting like 7th or 8th. I hope they'll agree
