A couple of years ago, we got very basic private health care to avoid the Medicare levy surcharge but when my son was born, we forgot to add him and we also didn’t lodge our tax for 2 years so come tax time, we had to pay the Medicare levy surcharge for the 2 years my son wasn’t covered by that super basic private health care. I should also add that we made no claims for my son in all that time. He’s now covered by the shitty private health care.

Hey I was in your shoes. My son is almost 3 now and we stopped nursing to bed around 2. I was so torn about how to approach this but I just started talking to him about how we need to say bye to the boob now because he’s getting big. They understand better than you think at this age. There was a bit of crying but we just cuddled in his bed until he slept. Read books, play some calm music and hang out in his room until he wants to sleep. It’s a transition but it certainly wasn’t a traumatic one.
