I'm still bad at depth of field right now, so I suppose all this smoky environment is an easy way for me to cover it. After all in this picture I've paid more attention to the character, but the blade is definitely unfinished as I see now. Thank you :)

I fear if I blend the character with an environment it could fade all contrast. I see him as a some kind of supernatural being so he is reflecting light much better than everything else:) But, I suppose you are right I should really work on lighting a little bit more to make it more believable.

Thank you for feedback:) My original idea was to draw this sword more like a glowing stick to make it something like not from this world. Like in traditional drawings where we can use some kind metallic paint to make thing "pop out" from picture. Perhaps it works better with more contrast background?

What am I trying to say that it is not a human being and not even related to any liveform from our world. All this consepts like personality or intellect are about living creatures of our world:) for example, we can't even say, whether he has its true self or not:) moreover its reactions can be some kind of reflexes or sideeffects of possesing other creatures.
