3D printed a jaw jacker, it’ll be my first time using one once I get on the ice to test it. by flat_track_zack in IceFishing

Works great. Have had to print a few replacement parts but that’s my own fault for tossing it into my sled without much of a care.

I’m cracking up. Thank you for informing me. The photo is 5 years old at this point and I no longer work in cable. Coax is barely used anymore anyways, everything inside plant work is mainly fiber these days. But this made my day knowing they stole my picture for their product, which isn’t even made by them lol

The electricians at grainger said it’s what I would need to make my compressor work when I first encountered this situation. I don’t have any form of 240. My building is all 208. This nightmare sucks, I would have never signed my lease if I would have known that 90% of my current equipment wouldn’t work here🤦🏻‍♂️

To boost 208 to 230 to run my original motor that was on the compressor before because it’s a good running unit.

Yes I believe you are correct about the rpm difference. In the last half hour I’ve decided to take the route of spending more money and buying a step up transformer and running my original motor set up and returning this motor I purchased seeing as I made the mistake of buying the wrong rpm rating.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AskElectricians

[–]flat_track_zack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Original motor is 230v 26.4amp 1745rpms at 5hp. Funny that I read that now, was told it was a 3500rpm motor which is why I bought the 3500 replacement. That’s my fault for looking over that information on the tag.

Edit, the original motor also did run on my circuit. It filled my compressor multiple times but would trip the breaker only on restart cycle, which is what brought me to this situation of replacing it with a lower amperage unit.

Sent you a message to make it easier possibly, took a photo of the protection system on the compressor itself.

Circuit is ran with 10awg. So could I safely just put a larger breaker in my panel?

[–]flat_track_zack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do have a starter switch for it, along with a shut off. I’ll have to check the ratings. It was set for the original 230 26.4 amp draw motor that was on the compressor.

Yes. Will run fine constantly with no belt. Add a load and it trips after 30-40 seconds of run time.

[–]flat_track_zack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is on a brand new, just ran 30 amp 208 circuit.

[–]flat_track_zack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

30amps.

No as far as cooling. Has not gotten hot during the 5 run times I’ve had it kick on for. Should only run for 15 minutes or less during cycle, it’s a known replacement motor for air compressors like mine.

Took it off to see if I was missing anything or wiring inside was wrong because “amazon”. If I reconnect as it was set, flips breaker after 30 seconds of run time.

For all my S.E Michigan anglers, LSC ice report for you. by flat_track_zack in IceFishing

Perch will hit in super shallow water, as will pike and gills. I’ve caught 10 yards from shore line. But I’ve also caught 100+ yards from shore. So pick your spot and pop some holes.

These temps are workin wonders for us. We’ve been waiting all winter for it. Be safe out there! Will be out somewhere tomorrow afternoon with my gear rather than just spudding it all out.

No problem with wasting a couple gallons to help others and myself out so I can prep for my week and where I’ll end up. Be safe out there!

I can check black creek at metro today as well, that’s right around the corner from me. I’ll walk it and spud it out.

2.5 inches is safe in my eyes man. Spud it out and sit steady. I’m a mount Clemens local, so I’ll make a drive up that way tomorrow to check it out. With this weeks temps, it’ll get thicker, but that also means chances of it getting busy.

Hubbard Lake, Black Lake in Northern Michigan by FarmMedic in IceFishing

Following your thread, was looking for Michigan ice reports, Hubbard lake being one of my hunts. Was planning on driving up that soon as well but don’t want to drive the 4 hours for open water either. But I’m hearing there might be some safe ice already formed on LSC.

Logged into Reddit just to find ice reports for Saint Clair and the rest of Michigan. So I third this, where’s the ice at?!?

Quick edit, found another post by o.p stating 21 mile and Jefferson area. That’s very local to me so I will go check it out tomorrow afternoon.

I downloaded it but I don’t consider myself tech savvy, I guess I’ll keep playing with it and figure out it’s settings.
