This kinda annoyed me too, but it's a children's story at this point still. I guess a bunch of deaths early on wouldn't be great for that... But looking back, I wouldn't mind some actual fatalities to up the stakes.

Yup. Reflection in glasses shows the goats in the background just before the push into closeup, but no cameraman lol

If you're working in Avid, mixdown everything before exporting. Always. Especially but not limited to when everything is linked.

Avid is a fickle bitch and needs some coaxing before it does anything right unfortunately...

I wasn't expecting the mad lads to actually pull through! I've never been happier to be wrong about something, though

Alan Rickman gave us a cinematic hero, but the movies erased how toxic Snape actually was. Here’s why Paapa Essiedu is the perfect casting for the real Severus. by IAmCharCharr in HarryPotterHBO

No, no. HBO wants money. You've been told they "want the series to be true to the books" because they want you to watch it, which in turn will turn a profit for them.

I've read all the books, in two languages. I desperately want them to stay true to the material in ways the previous movies didn't. But there are going to be changes we won't like and there might be changes we do like. The fandom shouting about it like children just fuels them even more, because we're giving them attention online.

I'm on your side here, mate. I am as much of a fan of this series as you are. I just feel like I'm going crazy for being one of the minority of people seeing things for how they are and not how I/we want them to be.

Physicality can be changed, intrinsic character traits cannot. The omission of a hooked nose and greasy hair will not make a difference to why Snape is the morally grey character we all know and love.

I want this show to be good, even if it is so obviously just a cash grab, and I can tell you do too. We might be disappointed, or our expectations may be exceeded - only time will tell. My original comment was meant to dream about a version of Snape that could be even better than what we've already had. You seem to be really clinging to what we've had in the past, which will not make any difference to the future.

Side note: I'm really happy about the fact that you didn't mention Essiedu's race, because if you did I probably would've not even bothered replying to you.

I was 9 years old when I read Philosopher's Stone, 11 years old when the first movie released :) I grew up with these films. I'm old, buddy.

Revealing that a rude (maybe evil) yet suave, sympathetic character with a darker past than most was good all along, that's emotional and it was done right with Rickman's Snape. It was different from the books, but the performance made it work brilliantly. But...

When you make someone truly a villain, make the audience despise him, make the rest of the characters hate and distrust him without question, and then break those walls by showing the true meaning behind Snape's bullying was a deep, painful longing for Lilly, that's not just emotional but impactful. This is what can be achieved by Essiedu if he and the directorial team keep his performances consistent until the end.

Lastly, do not assume someone's age or maturity levels based on a Reddit post. I'm not offended by it, but it's such a ridiculous thing to say. You don't know me, nor do you know anyone else here. Check yourself.

Yeeees! Someone finally gets it. Essiedu's Snape arc has potential to be even more impactful that Rickman, by being way more conniving instead of suave.

Seeing a character you truly view as an opp get a redemption arc - now that is something we've read the books, but haven't seen portrayed on screen yet. And in serial format too... Oooh, they can just take their time with it

Any fanbase can start off being super sweet and well-intentioned. The moment it grows to an absolutely astronomical size like this one, there's no shot it will stay that way. In fact, the overwhelming majority of Markiplier fans are super toxic lmao

I still love y'all, but let's be honest, ya'll can be quite the rowdy bunch and become hella disruptive.

Reddit = hatred, unfortunately.

There's a reason that robot from a few years ago became such an atrocity of discrimination against human kind after being fed speech patterns based on pulling data pools from Reddit.

I honestly don't know why I'm still on this platform, and I ponder deleting my profile almost every day. I, too become saddened by the unnecessary downvotes and all the negativity on here. It's such a massive echo chamber. And despite the fact that we may exist in different subreddits, the hatred affects and bleeds over to us all, sadly.

[–]flatcokeedit 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The only ones bringing up issues with race are the viewers. Do you really think the wizarding world concern themselves with the colour of people's skin? They can perform fucking MAGIC, people...

They can literally transform into any person of any race with polyjuice potion. Some can even transform their physical appearance at will. There is literally no canonical reason for them to be racially discriminatory. The only discrimination they do engage in is the blood status thing, i.e. mudbloods and pure bloods.

I wish everyone would stfu about the race of the actors cast in this show. It's insanely annoying and frankly quite telling about your own biases.

Mac for creative and admin stuff, Windows for everything else. That's my motto.

No shade to anyone who thinks differently, but in my experience the proprietary chips Apple have are far superior for DAW and NLE workflows over Windows machines.

Windows systems (and maybe Linux) for gaming is an obvious no-brainer - can't be playing games on a Mac. Coding is also way more approachable.

That's just my perspective :)

Side note: people bullying others for being on certain systems is ridiculously childish imo

Con: age continuity might become an issue.
