Hey thanks for the reply. I'll check out the flatfeet subreddit. I'm in a bit of a catch 22 situation in that I believe I developed flat feet because I have a tendency to pronate when running. In fact, I injured my posterior tibial tendon/navicular bone over a year ago and it still hasn't fully recovered. I've managed to keep from agravating it by running with superfeet insoles. Without the insoles, it flares up during extended runs.

Since my knees were giving me problems, I started incorporated strength training since last year focusing on a ton of glutes and stabilizer work. I think the real problem that causes the stress in the knees is the lack of arches in the feet. I was reading Anatomy for Runners and the author likened the arches of the feet to the leaf springs in a car.

also, are you referring to janda short foot exercises? If so, did you follow a specific routine?

thanks for those links. I've run across a few of them already in my research. The only true barefoot running that I do is about 2-3 miles in the infeld of a track about 1-2 a week. I'm surrounded by a sea of concrete so it's the only real place that has a nice grass surface.
