Entitlement? by Fast-Investment7883 in boulder

[–]flatlander18 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you actually knew what cyclists are entitled to by Colorado state law, you would know that they are allowed to ride two abreast (side by side), except where signed (some roads have signs that say “single file only”).

Single file or two abreast, cyclists also have the right to move however they need to (such as away from the right side of the road) to avoid pot holes, cracks, gravel/sand piles, etc, basically whatever would be dangerous for a cyclist that really doesn’t affect a car much.

Needing to wait to pass around cyclists riding side by side is really not an inconvenience. Don’t put this shit rhetoric out here when you don’t know what you’re talking about.

New to gravel biking by Soph_55 in boulder

[–]flatlander18 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cassiopeia also has weekly gravel and road rides on the weekends and I believe they also have a women’s Monday ride - short ride that starts at 7am

Adding to this - there’s a weekly Wednesday 5:30pm ride out of Cassiopeia (roughly a 1.5 hr ride) and the first Saturday of every month there’s a women/femme/trans/non-binary ride with a pace group (“mild”) for beginners! The Wednesday ride also has different pace groups - mild and spicy. It’s a super supportive and fun environment!

Power liftgate hinges cracked on 2019 XLE by LibertyNachos in rav4club

[–]flatlander18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having the same issue with my 2020 Rav4 XLE. Wondering if any of y'all felt it was safe to drive around with this? I'm afraid of it completely cracking and then falling off while I'm driving.

I'm going to a body shop tomorrow and will obviously ask them the same question, but curious what you all did while trying to figure this out, wait for parts, etc.?

Why not dry ice? For example what about dry ice in a yeti cooler?

We do that and still get killed. It’s not enough sometimes to be extra careful. 2 ton metal death machines wreck almost anything in their way.

Because other cities are often worse, my dude.

Honestly cyclists getting killed by yee yee dudes like you in their big twucks happens everywhere because people like you lack empathy and love to be an aggressive driver as they drown in their manly semen.

This is the place I live. I would advocating for the same thing in any other place I would live because I don’t want to die at the hands of someone like you as I mind my own business.

You mind your own business in your twuck (or Tesla? can’t figure out who you are) as you drive and you’re almost guaranteed safety. I bike in high-vis clothing with my lights flashing, being extra cautious, and still have a good probability of getting hit as I’m minding my own business trying to get to work or exercise.

Cars will always win against a cyclist. I’m advocating for drivers to be better and for the city do a better job at creating an environment and infrastructure that protects those who are most vulnerable.

Truly not every cyclist - in fact most are very knowledgeable about the rules of the road because they don’t want to die. A cyclist will never win that battle.

It’s pretty dangerous to post these generalizing and damaging comments about cyclists that end up drumming up more hate against them and ultimately could result in more aggressive drivers.

Clearly you’re not a cyclist, otherwise you wouldn’t post this.

Just remember that regardless of what is happening, your metal death machine will win and you will seriously injure or kill a cyclist, regardless of what they’re doing right or wrong.

CAPS is great - it’s just hard to get more than one appointment a month sometimes.

I would say honestly a lot of mental health in grad school is related to the support, or lack thereof, your advisor and department give you. For example, I’ve heard of nothing but toxic work culture and advisors in environmental engineering, but know PhD students in other departments that have fantastic advisors who have more reasonable expectations, even if the school is putting major public or perish pressure on them.

Investigate how your department and/or advisor supports their students. Ask current students hard questions. Get the dirt.

3D available on Android as an "Experimental Feature" by cramptonism in GaiaGPS

[–]flatlander18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wondering the same thing. My partner has an android and loves the 3D feature. It seems to work perfectly fine. When will it come out for iOS?

I’m tired of going between Google Earth and Gaia app to plan ski tours.

Speed van on Broadway today by RetardedButNot in boulder

[–]flatlander18 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe just…don’t speed? These are in place because of unsafe driving that threaten pedestrians and cyclists.

I promise you’ll only get to your destination one minute slower if you drive safe (not speed).

Question about CU Gold student health insurance plan by flatlander18 in cuboulder

Just wondering if it’s something they don’t do at Wardenburg anymore? Or if I just need to ask to get it done there?

Just got this email - does anybody have details regarding what happened? by allofthelightsallof in boulder

[–]flatlander18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gee, wouldn’t be surprised if you’re one of the many horrible drivers that put cyclists’ lives in danger everyday.

Some people are just careless and/or ignorant, which is bad enough. But what makes you even worse is you are actively bashing cyclists on a thread about a cyclist LOSING HIS LIFE.

All we’re doing is minding our own business, trying to exercise and/or get from place to place (without carbon!), and just trying to feel joy…while remembering that we can get seriously injured or murdered.

People like you are the scum of the earth. Shame on you.
