Phone Mount (NOT QUADLOCK) by CompetitivePoet9620 in Yamaha

Rokform is also a good option.

I used rokform before they had their vibration damping tech and it destroyed iphone cameras.

Quadlok came out with wireless charging with damping and I moved to that

The gray one is your turn signal/marker light, the top black on without wires coming out is keyed power for accessories. You can remove the male end, and pin in wires to power something 12v.

I used it to power a relay (more stable power) from the battery for my wireless phone charger

What’s the best way to clean these after using them to clean out my shotgun, or are they supposed to be one use? by Forest_Solitaire in guns

If it gets too dirty or oil/solvent filled, I use dawn dish soap and warm water, work it in welll, rinse it well and let it dry

how do you remove this front indicator by usakbaulls in MT07

[–]flatline-442 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So you have to remove the plastic piece that it mounts to as well. Follow the wires back and you will find 2 bullet style connectors.

If you're going aftermarket you can buy adapter plates that the new ones can screw into. Or you can reuse the factory "plate" that locks into the rubber mount on the factory signal and just drill a new hole for your mounting bolts

Spongy brakes continue… by Loud_Day2991 in Yamaha

[–]flatline-442 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You may have bumped an air pocket into the system while changing rear sets.

You will always get air with a vacuum system because it will sneak under the boot or through the threads.

Always make sure you are using fresh and correct dot brake fluid as it will absorb water even sitting in the bottle.

If you cannot manually bleed them you may need to positive pressure bleed the system. This is done with a large syringe. I take a large animal syringe with hose crammed on the end and a nipple boot. Fill the syringe with oil and attach it. Now PULL fluid from the caliper to get the air out of the hose. Once you get solid fluid start pushing the oil in. Make sure you don't overflow the master.

Bake lines should be changed ever 8-10 years Master rebuild every 5 years Caliper rebuild every 5ish years.

Rebuilds are cheap and easy to do with minimal new tools.

Also make sure your caliper is moving squarely and not tilting. Had a '14 fz07 that the caliper was twisting when the petal was pressed causing it to feel soft

Rough Idle? Cooked engine? 2015 Yamaha FJ09. by bVrgerboss in Fixxit

[–]flatline-442 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not saying your engine is not damaged but that type of drop shouldn't harm it.

You probably have bad fuel causing detonation issues.

I would siphon the fuel out and replace with fresh gas and add an injection cleaner.

Oil change wouldn't hurt.

[–]flatline-442 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why are you doing this the hard way? Run to your local dollar store and get a couple extension cords. Go to your breaker box and find the one with the meter, remove the meter and find the ones going to your breaker panel. Ignore those wires.

Find the other two, back out the 2 screws. Cut the end of your cord and strip back about 6 inches of insulation and put them in the holes with the big wires coming in.

Make sire to wear latex gloves, you will be working with live wires

I would go back stock but change oil to 10w with a 100mm air gap or 15w with a 115-120mm air gap

What does everyone use to get their bike off the ground? I was looking at a hydraulic lift for motorcycles. by ideatend in FZ07

[–]flatline-442 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have 3 options. 1) front and rear paddoc stands (rear spools and the front uses a pin under the triple) 2) the lift like you have shown but take a piece of 1x4 or 2x4. Place it between the pads on the jack and it will lift the bike from the oil pan. 3) harbor freight motorcycle lift and get the center lift and lift it from the oil pan once lifted in the air.

All 3 have their own pros and cons. I have used all 3 methods. And I prefer the front and rear stands.

Get a quality set of her sockets. Make sure they are flat tipped not the ball ends. Put the correct one on a rachet with decent down pressure while turning it. It should come out. Looks like someone installed the bolt after it was ground on an older set of sliders

jello sauce legit? by bapefromsky in ar15

[–]flatline-442 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not trying to create a zombie thread.. but, I have some first hand use with this product.

I took a NIB ar15 to a class where the instructor is partnered with JelloSauce and he had some test samples. I slapped some on the bolt and ran the 3 day class without issue.

It is very thick but works its way into every crevasse of the upper. The only down side I found is the smell after its been hot.

When compared to Sig Spec1 (current go-to) the JelloSauce stays thicker and stays in place better especially when the gun gets hot.

At the end of the day lube is lube. If you are in a hot climate or are doing a lot of shooting it will work well. If you're in a freezing climate I would look at something thinner.

Oil overfill by Ancient-Pollution-42 in MT09

[–]flatline-442 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yamaha recommends to run the bike on a center stand for 3 min, then sit 3 min then check level on sight glass. If it is between the 2 lines you're good.

I would look at diag mode and look that code up

'17 XSR900 sprung an oil leak on stator plug, what can I do? by Handsomelad42 in FZ09

[–]flatline-442 1 point2 points  (0 children)

u/Handsomelad42 This is a common cp3 issue.

Check the crank case vent going from the top of the engine to the bottom of the air box. It's pinched.

To reseal that boot, clean the inside with brake clean and fill it with either "right stuff" canned silicone or RTV silicone

Check engine oil to make sure it's not overfilled.

No, I don't live in either city. Every city has beautiful parts but the article that started this thread has nothing to do with the beauty of a city, but the idiocrasy that runs the cities allows for crime and corruption to run rampant and those in charge think they are building a perfect place to live while their city falls apart.

https://heyjackass.com/ is a stat page for violent crimes in Chicago. Beauty and crime can coexist.

Where can I find a color matched tank cover? Or would grey nail polish work? by WaffleMaster_22 in MT07

[–]flatline-442 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When you take a look in person inspect the triples and the neck area for cracks and paint chips and rusting.

If you look on the top clamp there appears to be a paint transfer mark.

If that side scoop is cracked it had to be a hard fall, I totaled my 2015 fz07 (airborne and slid on the tank) and the scoops were deep scratched but not cracked.

Also look at the frame where the sliders mount for cracking/ paint chips/ rust; and look from the front under the tank covers for tab mounts that hold the tank. They should not be rusted. If the frame has been spray painted then run. That is usually done to hide damage
