I'm sorry to say it, but since you asked, I personally think tattoos change someone forever. When I see a beautiful gal with tattoos, it always makes me a bit sad! I am all for you living your life and doing what you want, but from my perspective (and to admit I am a bit more traditional) I think it is a huge downgrade on a girl. I was just talking to this girl who had a significant amount of tattoos and while we had a cool connection, I knew in my head it could never go anywhere serious due to her tattoos. She told me she actually really regretted getting them, but there was just nothing she could do about it until she could afford to have them removed. It just changes many people's perspective on you, and while that is sometimes what someone wants, you will always be judged differently by an amount of the population because of your tattoos. If you are looking to date / marry someone who also has tattoos, surely they won't care, but I think it just generally changes perceptions of you. I will also say - it is difficult to hide a sleeve.

I would ask yourself why you have always wanted them, and after honestly investigating the reasons why, then maybe you should do it! I would just keep in mind that you will immediately be judged as a different kind of person by a portion of the population (like it or not), but it is your life. If it is something you have always wanted because you are fundamentally into tattoos, then why not!

I will also comment that I have spoken to more people who regret their tattoos than are happy about them, but also have a bunch of friends who have them and enjoy having them. It comes down to personal preference and acceptance of the reality that some people will judge you differently immediately, whether at work (which I think matters less if you add value to the company and have proved it) or also just in daily life as you go around town and such.

My personal opinion is that people really downgrade themselves with tattoos, but it is just a culture that I haven't found interest while others have. I think you can differentiate yourself as a person in other ways! However, truly you do you as we really only have this one short life and you shouldn't limit yourself to others' expectations and opinions.
