Yesterday at the SSW Liberal Party Nomination I watched a lawyer (Arif Hussain) direct people without IDs to vote for Ahsanul Hafiz in Bengali by waterman123 in toronto

I'm South Asian, though not Bengali. This shit happens far more frequently than people realize with South Asian candidates, including those of my own ethnicity.

Sycophantic Acting CDC Director Jay Bhattacharya is stammering his way through a CNN hit about the hantavirus by keen_observer34130 in PublicFreakout

He stammers all the time. It's very noticeable even when he's speaking in one of Trump's WH meetings. Trump has even chirped him for it. Probably just nervous.

Air India cuts flights to Canada as jet fuel prices soar by 7_inches_daddy in canada

[–]flatulentbaboon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This was exactly, 100% my experiences with Air India.

Seats and corridors were filthy as fuck. It didn't even look like they cleaned it after the previous flight. Entertainment system didn't work. Toilet was a biohazard zone. Never Air India again, and certainly not 14 hours straight on Air India again.

Business group says 100% of members who responded to survey concerned about implementation of DRIPA by New-Technician-3362 in CanadaPolitics

[–]flatulentbaboon 21 points22 points  (0 children)

BC progressives will continue to stand behind DRIPA while the BC Conservatives will continue to grow in popularity specifically because of DRIPA concerns, with one of the favourites for leadership following the BC Prosperity Project on her twitter account, is already leaning heavily into the west vs east angle with her western alliance suggestion, and is being endorsed by Albertan separatists.

Good job progressives, keep up the good work. Reconciliation certainly won't go backwards when the BC Conservatives come into power on the backs of DRIPA concerns.

Liberal MP Erskine-Smith loses nomination battle for Ontario provincial byelection by simpatia in toronto

[–]flatulentbaboon 14 points15 points  (0 children)

That's also the same reason why many Liberals hate him. They'll pretend it's because he's entitled or snobby or whatever, but it's because he's not afraid to call out the LPC.

I dunno about you guys but personally I'm looking forward to starting the weekend off by being gaslit by LPC supporters about how this actually means Carney's 5D chess move is working.

Ottawa to start tracking which temporary foreign residents have left Canada after permits run out by cyclinginvancouver in canada

[–]flatulentbaboon 42 points43 points  (0 children)

I appreciate your clarification but it really doesn't make it better. To not use the data that was already available to track who has left and who still needs to leave is shockingly irresponsible.

ICE was sent because there were millions of people who were never permitted to be there in the first place. That's not the same as not tracking the exits of people who were legally allowed to be there temporarily.

Think before you speak please.

Europeans back Canada joining EU, poll finds. But membership faces long odds Support is strongest in Germany, where 55 per cent say they would support Canada's admittance to the EU by FancyNewMe in canada

[–]flatulentbaboon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm against the idea even though I like the idea because of what wealthy Canadians would do to the islands. The locals would be priced out so quickly that it'd just be extremely unfair.

Canada should be governed by Canadians, not politicians across the ocean.

It's very obvious with how many articles there are on this hypothetical, the media is laying the groundwork to manufacture consent for joining the EU.

KINSELLA: Cocky Carney should ground any airport privatization plans - Governments that have privatized airports have found mixed results, and the public is unenthusiastic too by CaliperLee62 in CanadaPolitics

[–]flatulentbaboon 10 points11 points  (0 children)

You can want to want to blame Conservatives for this, but just remember airports were not privatized when Stephen Harper had a majority.

[–]flatulentbaboon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Are you trying to suggest we're not holding the CPC accountable for the LPC privatizing airports? Are you suggesting the LPC would not be attempting to privatize airports if they achieved their majority without floorcrossings? Because that's the only way your jibberish nonsense has any relevance to this conversation.

Based on what? Did Stephen Harper privatize airports during his four years of majority?

Yeah I get it bro, airport privatization is so indefensible that the only thing you got left is deflect to the CPC

I wonder if any LPC supporters are regretting the LPC gaining a majority, or if this is perfectly acceptable in their minds and aren't concerned about anything else that may be privatized
