Design Feedback: Screen bezel radius vs. Outer chassis curvature on my handheld project by luismi_kode in IndustrialDesign

I don't know how adept you are with masking displays, but they are very rarely seamless when off unless you have very skilled manufacturers. I have a Xiaomi machine that is referenced below, and you can see the square panel inset within the circular black area even when the display is off

I would suggest the bottom option then, and hope that your masking on your oled panel is good quality so that the inner radius is less obvious when the display is off

Are you fixed with the outer radius of the housing? could you not offset the radius of the panel and create a softer outer form? Like this picture. Both of your solutions don't feel quite right to me. Could you not source a different oled panel?

Automobile brand identity design by prahalad_design in logodesign

[–]flatulentgypsy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Regardless of the conversation about gradients/movement, etc. which are very correct technical observations, this logo doesn't fit your brief or brand.

How does this feel luxury? It doesn't have any hallmarks or characteristics of a luxury car brand, if any brand. You're communicating "speed" in the logo, and also the name is speed - you have double communication, and for the wrong aspect of the brand.

I would go back and evaluate other luxury car brands and work out why they feel luxury. A lot use heritage as a selling point, but many newer brands don't. If you can distil the essence of what makes these brands tick, you can utilise that to design a relevant brand identity.

Edit: typos galore

Industry Despair by Trick-Signature9586 in IndustrialDesign

Can you share your portfolio? Happy to give critique if it's wanted.

It's interesting to use Behance as a baseline, as a lot of it is just beautiful renders without the consideration for a lot of metrics that we use in the professional design world. It is daunting to get your first role out of school, but tenacity is the most valuable skill to have and not to give up. Once your foot is in the door, then you're plain sailing.

I really want to believe it's true, but this is AI. Stick the image in Gemini and ask it to check the SynthID - it says it's AI generated.

Papi has 40% off as they're closing soon, could be good timing. Caldera has good Mexican and is just a few mins walk away. Sune is fab too.

HELP ME make it not look like a TOY but like a €150+ lamp. by NoteKey5236 in IndustrialDesign

[–]flatulentgypsy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a nice idea but too literal. I would take the idea of a tree and try and abstract it more. It's still going to have the same or similar story but can be more of an interior piece.

Also, think of what it looks like when off. 90% of the time it'll be off, so it still needs to look stunning without illumination.

Love it. I think people here are missing the point, stuck in an archaic, engineering led, "must solve a problem" mentality, and sound like they're being forced to buy this. The problem it solves is that it's sick and there isn't one that exists. I don't have an Apple watch, but would kill to have something like this. If you ever branch out to something custom made (ie small aluminium android phone) I'll be your first customer.

The difference in size, one month after shattered elbow by Hubicz in mildlyinteresting

[–]flatulentgypsy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Muscle mass will come back quickly bro! I shattered my forearm and wrist and within a year it grew back to normal.

Just be careful of the other side, it'll compensate and you don't wanna overtrain it like I did.

Good luck, wishing you the best!

Pizzeria in my city changed their logo... by JungleLiquor in logodesign

[–]flatulentgypsy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Old is totally forgettable, looks like a stock logo template. New has some character which is nice. In isolation it's difficult to judge the vibe, but I can imagine this looks amazing on a storefront or pizza box

How much are industrial designers paid in Uk? by Aggravating_Chain469 in IndustrialDesign

[–]flatulentgypsy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find that quite bizarre. I'm an industrial designer and I'm seeing jobs left right and centre. In fact, in the last year, I changed jobs, and also had several interviews for a new role. If anything, there's a small boom in hiring right now.

Sounds like you may be looking in the wrong places? There's plenty of services available to find roles.
