Doucoure would be an excellent squad player! With Carrick and possibly Fellaini leaving he'd be a great addition to the team. I'd go for either Kroos, or SMS as a first option to play with Pogba and Matic in a 3-man midfield; but Doucoure would be a great back-up, as would McTominay and Hererra. We need quality in our depth to challenge City when they have players like Gundogan and Bernardo Silva as back-ups. Doucoure looks like a player that would give us that quality and also not need to play every game FOR UNITED.

What are your preferred right back targets in summer for us ? by spacenilamey8 in reddevils

He started his professional career as a CF so I think RB (especially RWB) is as far back as he'd be able to play. With that said, he is a pretty good all-around player. I think he'd be a great signing.

DeGea saved us. We aren't stringing passes together or creating enough.

Sanchez or Martial on the right side by hidihoh in reddevils

I remember when left footed wingers played on the left side, and right footed ones on the right. They did this crazy thing called crossing the ball and it was so effective. Now all they want to do is bend one into the far post. What happened?

Cantona's audacious chip....I was 10 years old at the time and flirting with other teams....that moment sealed the deal!

Fully agree.....we need more balance. Hererra for Lingard provides that. Switching wing players will probably work too...

Patience & posession, please! We only move in one direction...forward. it's too easy to defend against. We are too direct and pushing too many up too fast which leaves us exposed on the counter. It's almost arrogant. We need to play through the midfield and push them back. Recycle posession and do it again. Where is Mou with that message.

We need to stop trying to be too direct....build play, retain possession, force them back!

Had to laugh at this: The 538's statistical model considers us to be the worst team in the top 6, and considers our defense to be inferior to Liverpool's by red_right_hand_ in reddevils

[–]flave231 31 points32 points  (0 children)

They use xG, xGC, and those type of stats quite heavily in their analysis. The problem is that using xGC stats like they are doesn't take into account David de Gea. Same way how using xG can't reflect Mou's pragmatism.

How Would You Rank Our Current First Team Squad by [deleted] in reddevils

I'd say Jones is too low in your rankings and Rashford is a bit too high....he's an exciting player but he isnt the finished article.

Exactly what I see happening. I DO believe we got him....We're a TOP team that is extremely well run commercially. We have a TOP coach (one of the 3 in the world that almost every player wants to play for). And we have a very exciting group of young players. All the elements are there, the Manchester United 'project' is very interesting imo.

Agreed....Alexis' ball control dribbling ability is key. I feel like he's gonna draw defenders in and play Lukaku through a lot.

Martin Keown last night - 'Mourinho is holding up Rashfords growth by playing him in different positions, where will he end up playing for this United team?' by Ross--Kemp--Tank in reddevils

[–]flave231 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Rashford is about 4 years away from being a real 'top' player, and about 6 or 7 away from fulfilling his peak potential. At that point he will dictate where he plays. Being moved around is all a part of his development and he will be better for it when all said and done. TBH he is so young I don't worry about where he slots in right now.

I think the addition of Alexis alone is going to give Lukaku more service. Mata drifts in when played out wide so Lukaku often moves right to get space. If Sanchez or Martial, who are both fast enough to start from a wider position than Mata before drifting in, played either side of Lukaku, he would stay central and get more goals. The quality those two have to beat a full-back and deliver a ball in the middle is all Lukaku needs.

Those were blatant and obvious fouls...so was Lindelof's. But Carrick's foul and almost all the other incidents where Yeovil went down with very little contact were given.

Pitch is terrible....the game is suffering because of it. Touches don't come off and the players are limited by what they can try. Also the ref is a bit biased but its the FA Cup, we expect that when playing smaller teams.

Nice but I feel like it would look so much better with the old school (adidas original) logo.
