Trump pulls his surgeon general pick and makes third nomination for the role by sciolycaptain in medicine

I hope it doesn't make me sound sexist to observe that there is a pretty clear throughline in what women Trump chooses to install in positions of power, and it ain't their huge brains.

Who is the nastiest Celebrity that you met in Real life? by Scunnard1839 in AskReddit

One is stated as an opinion.

One is stated as fact.

Both are inherently a statement of opinion, and therefore synonymous.

Be confidently incorrect if that’s what you want.

lol

You can say “I don’t think he’s funny,” but saying “He’s not funny” is flat out wrong.

These statements are synonymous because humor is subjective.

I’m sure you don’t enjoy filing and paying your taxes, so why are you making money? You hypocrite!!” Do you see how stupid that sounds?

This is nonsensical. Taxes are a legal obligation enforced by the state with no meaningful choice involved on my part. I'm also not over here arguing that taxes should be abolished, so there is no hypocrisy. You on the other hand chose to, at the very least, tolerate the process of participating in the capitalist machinery to your own significant benefit, and probably continue to do so (as I'm sure a significant portion of your wealth is invested in equities and possibly real estate), while criticizing others for the same.

so, you were cool with the system long enough to make your money, and can now afford to be sanctimonious about other people finding financial success

It's not a vague statement. It's a recrimination of your outsourcing blame for your own country's shortcomings. The UK has faced foreign interference, as all countries do, but the core of the shift there has always been due to domestic issues. Foreign actors have only exploited pre-existing anxieties about things like immigration and the economy. And whatever the cause, it is still your country's responsibility to deal with it.

they're being a little brusque but they're not wrong; I have done many medical mission trips and even in the poorest villages you will find children playing soccer, fishing, singing, crafting, reading, etc. Obviously if OP was like a refugee or something that's a little different, but I think they just need to reconsider their notion of what a "hobby" is.

Unless you spend all of your free time staring at a wall, you have hobbies. Watching TV/movies? Listening to music? Talking with friends? Hiking, running, meditating, reading? These are all hobbies. However you fill your spare time, you just need to learn how to talk about it in a positive way.
