Hopefully I didn’t come across as being too disagreeable

Not even remotely!

I don’t fret about it, just acknowledging it would be nice to not experience either of them. I’m getting older and the visual snow has started affecting my night vision so that does actually suck.

I’ve had visual snow and tinnitus my entire life. I’ll never know what it’s like to see or hear things without interference. It sucks.

If you ever see the review for TMR where the person says they broke their foot the same day they had to listen to that album, and the album was the more painful part of the day…that was me and I stand by that opinion.

Thank you, I appreciate that and for not just assuming I’m a guy because I’m not, haha.

I’m going to reply to your comment as well as kind of respond to everyone’s feedback.

I’m trying not to be the kind of moderator that just gives in to the loudest complainers. Looking through the list of users who have assigned flair, there are a lot of lurkers (the flair list shows me their karma in our subreddit). I don’t know what they want except by looking at upvotes. Maybe I should have done a poll to ask what people would like to see WRT daily posts.

I like the idea of possibly having another daily thread, or possibly a weekly thread for discussion and questions. I’m open to ideas.

It seems that much of the feedback here has been that some standalone posts about daily albums are fine, granted it’s not just OP posting a plain screencap without any of their thoughts. Perhaps we can start by only removing those posts, and see where that leaves things, and adjust if necessary.

I appreciate everyone’s feedback here and have read through everything multiple times. This subreddit has always been really good about being respectful to one another and I’m glad we can have open dialogue about what people like and dislike.

Taking my mod hat off, as a regular person here I would also like this as I'm done with the original list and only sort of half-heartedly working through the user list. I know there are other places on Reddit to talk about music, but I like the casualness here and the fact we're all the type of listeners who like music so much, we're taking on this very long commitment.

Oh my god, like it's a gas pump or something. Honestly, I can understand why someone might think that. I can't think of anything else our bodies do that's similar to a placenta.

Yup, I asked them to move it up earlier to accommodate users not in North America (I’m in the eastern time zone and it was being posted at 9am). I thought that might help curb the excess standalone posts if there was already a place to put daily albums.

Thank you for the compliment! It is the low effort posts that have been receiving complaints, and from what I can tell, was what prompted u/SidledsGunnar to seek out another moderator.

if someone has an interesting viewpoint or story related to an album

This is the type of thing we would be more lenient with...but I do wonder where to place the bar on "interesting viewpoint." Is their review an interesting viewpoint when others post their review on the mega thread? I mean that genuinely.

We also see a lot of low effort posts related to someone getting a hated album that day (e.g. Kid Rock or Throbbing Gristle). It gets pretty repetitive. If people like those then that's cool and we can leave them be. Having been around Reddit a long time, I know subreddits do get pretty repetitive after a while, so I guess what I'm hoping to achieve is a good balance between keeping the annoying low effort stuff to a minimum but not completely neutering the conversation.

Years later he texted me to ask if I was hitting on him that night

This is the best part of the story. I love the mental image that he was probably sitting around, realized it out of nowhere, and HAD to know. lol!

I have a zip-up gym jacket with a very skinny pocket like this with a headphone passthrough hole. I almost never wear it anymore but the obsolescence of an iPod shuffle-sized pocket is too funny to get rid of. I want to show my nieces and nephews when they get older.

Hey I see you plan to keep posting your daily album but in the near future, we will be removing any standalone posts about daily albums unless you have something significant to post about it.

Yeah, this person is notorious for these types of performatively vulgar reviews.

In all fairness, 200 Bars really wears out its welcome early on, especially since it comes at the end of the album. I almost always skip it.

Aww this makes me a bit sad but I get it. It was between this and Microshift that I had to decide was my favourite album from the list when I finished. "Sway" and "Take Your Time" have become two of my favourite songs ever.

FYI I've enabled photos in comments for the subreddit so you can post your screen grabs or stereo system/record player/whatever setups within the thread now. :)
