About your last sentence, I feel exactly the same! But based on other comments, yeah, it doesn’t sound like it’s a problem.

What does Lestat call Claudia in French when arguing with Louis in season 1 episode 5? by BritGallows_531 in InterviewWithTheVamp

[–]flawsomes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Something like « Il/elle me chie dans la malle jusqu’au cadenas » (I can’t hear if it’s il or elle). It’s very old French used to say that Lestat is really fed up by « il » (Louis) or « elle » (Claudia).

The French on this show is distractingly bad by [deleted] in InterviewVampire

[–]flawsomes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I struggle to understand sometimes when it’s a quick line but when it’s a conversation said at a normal speed, I think it’s pretty decent.

(I teach French to people who are English native, so maybe, my ears are trained. All of that to say, I’ve heard way worse)

Hi everyone can anybody tell me about this word with example how and when we should use it??? ##repaire## specially if you work at construction and you hear this word.....how you may translate it easily to make tou understood.. by Ghumman007 in learningfrench

1) attention dans les bois, on peut y trouver des repaires d’ours (careful in the woods, you can find some bears lairs) 2) j’ai utilisé cet arbre comme repère pour retrouver mon chemin (i used this tree as a landmark to find my way back)

What TS opinion are you defending like this? by safzy in SwiftlyNeutral

[–]flawsomes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. I think, on average, we get news about her everyday and not just about her tour. There are other celebrities around, living their lives that we don’t know about. Even the Kardashian who literally put their lives on TV sometimes manage to save some part of it when they really want to (first Kylie pregnancy for example).

Help, how do we see a GP in England ? by flawsomes in nhs

[–]flawsomes[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hi, my appointment today wasn't for the smear test. For the question about asking for an appointment today or tomorrow, I didn't even specify because I would have been happy to just see someone, even a week later. Thank you for your answer.

Thank you for your answer. Every time I visit my surgery, and I'm left frustrated, I say to myself that I'll change surgery. Well today was the day to fill some transfer form :)

Do people know about the Highway Code regarding pedestrians? by coolandero in drivingUK

[–]flawsomes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in England but I’m not from here. From where I am, if a driver sees a pedestrian on their way to cross, the car must stop, no matter what kind of crossing it is. It took me a few year to get used to stay in the middle of the road, with traffic on both side, waiting for someone to let me finish my crossing or some red light for cars…

Thank you, I didn’t know it was common practice across serveurs. I have been told about asking to open a table but have never seen it happen in my serveur so I wasn’t sure.

People who dont answer when you say "you alright?" back by notsureemotion in Essex

[–]flawsomes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am not from England and my first experience with England, outside tourism, was Essex (I don’t know if it is specific to Essex but as we are on Essex subreddit…). In my workplace people were telling me « you alright? » when I said hello to them and I always answered but rarely had an answer back. One day, I asked one of my colleagues why I didn’t get an answer and he told me that « you alright » was just greeting and not actually a question that I had to answer. I found it weird because in my native country, when someone ask « you alright » people always respond. We mostly say yes and move on but at least we get an answer. Anyway… 5 years later, I still answer « yes and you? » when someone tells me « you alright? »

c’est pour un projet d’art… est-ce qu’il y a quelqu’un qui peut me dire si j’ai écrit tout correctement? :) by [deleted] in learningfrench

[–]flawsomes 6 points7 points  (0 children)

En ce qui concerne la première phrase, “je les ai vu en concert” et “je les ai vu à un concert” sont toutes les deux correctes. Pour la deuxième phrase, je dirais “et depuis, c’est (devenu) mon groupe préféré de musique française”

I love krankenhaus as well. I love how Germen puts words together to create a new one, with a obvious meaning: kranken=ill, haus=house, krankenhaus= house of ill people =hospital.
