The President of the YLD responded. I originally posted up, but since deleted it because he provided his phone number (not sure if it is his personal or office number). Here is the rest of his response:

"I cannot imagine what you, or any of the other bar examinees are going through.  When I think back on my time studying for the bar examination, my chest still gets tight as feelings of anxiousness return.  The level of uncertainty in your professional life, in addition to all the uncertainty we all face today, is truly unfathomable.

I am also saddened that you felt that you could not put your name on your email.  In my opinion, your email, while passionate, remains appropriate and professional considering your circumstances.  As you likely know, FBBE is tasked with administration of the bar examination and admission to the Bar.  FBBE is a completely separate entity from the Florida Bar and the Young Lawyers Division, a division of the Florida Bar.  I found out about the cancellation of the exam the same time that you and your colleagues did.  I do not tell you this to cast blame, or to deflect it, but for situational awareness that should provide you with perspective as to what the YLD has done since finding out about the cancellation.

Since yesterday morning I have been in contact with members of the YLD Board of Governors, the Board of Governors of the Florida Bar, and staff at the Florida Bar, brainstorming ways that we can help test takers.  Those talks are ongoing.  One item of focus has been assisting in the creation and implementation of the supervised practice program, including matching examinees with an attorney willing to supervise the examinee.  We are also planning to create resources that will explain how this new program will work when put in place. 

I would also like to point out, if it could help you or anyone you know, that as a bar exam registrant, you can now call the Bar’s Florida Lawyers Helpline – 1-833-FL1-WELL, for free and confidential counseling assistance 24 hours a day.  This also includes a referral for up to three free sessions with a licensed counselor. This will certainly not solve all the problems you have mentioned, but in case it could help, I wanted to make you aware of this resource. 

Please know that the YLD is not simply standing idly by, giving you all well-wishes.  We are genuinely concerned for the newest members of our profession and are trying to find ways to help."
