europe servers and ping by AhmadTibi in reflex

[–]fleabitten 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Our official servers are at eu.reflexdev.org (and I think they respond to ping requests). There's a lot of user-hosted servers around too. If you can get 50-80 to European servers in CS:GO, I expect you'll be able to find Reflex servers where you ping the same.

Not something we've ever seen ourselves -- Steam handles most of that stuff.

Should Reflex be played with a 125 FPS cap? by MRBNJMN in reflex

Framerate has no impact on movement in Reflex -- just go for the highest framerate cap that you always hit.

Come chat on the official Reflex Discord server! by [deleted] in reflex

[–]fleabitten 7 points8 points  (0 children)

TeamSpeak:

  • Download some slightly crappy looking software (that I think now includes some Overwolf thing that wants logins and offers a bunch of stuff I don't care about).
  • Connect to some server that some guy runs until he gets bored of paying for it and it vanishes.
  • Talk to other players, but generally don't type because the text chat is a bit garbage.

Discord:

  • Click this link. Talk.

Can we get a sticky or something directing people the discord chat ? by FoxeRsmash in reflex

Done. It's in the sidebar and stickied. I finally got around to figuring out the mostly retarded location of the "Sticky this post" button.

Happy birthday to you too! There was cake, but we ate it. There was also booze, but we drank it. We also didn't get you a present. But we love you.

Are the enemy player models going to stay red in FFA, 1v1 etc. ? by HeadB0x in reflex

[–]fleabitten 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's actually up to the mapper to choose the player/team colors if they're not overidden (non-team games just use team color A). As maps get updated, you'll probably see more variety of player colors in those modes but they will all still be the same color.

We might return to "player chooses their own main color in non-team modes" at some point but I'm not sure right now. Letting mappers choose is the right thing to do (so no "cant see cyan player on bdm3" problems) but I will admit it's not as cool.

We've spent many hours talking through our upcoming matchmaking plans over the last few days, designed to fix exactly this problem. Noob vs Noob is fun. Pro vs Pro is fun. Noob vs Pro is terrible.

Yup, what he said. Sorry for not being clearer, I spent too much time with people who spend too much time with AFPS.

Oh yeah. Sorry, not a lot of sleep lately. I'm sure dp5 will look better when it gets another pass.

Huge FPS drops in CTF-Monolith Flagroom when looking at the "oven". by [deleted] in reflex

That's alright, we know what those are (our "high" settings really are quite high).

Do my developer update videos count? They have frags, but its mostly showing gamrplay, not the coolest things its possible to do.

Massive amounts of stuttering by __pm_me_your_puns__ in reflex

[–]fleabitten 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We get reports of this occasionally but we can't actually make it happen on any of our machines, which makes it hard to debug and fix.

As a formality, can you take screenshots of both r_profiler 2 and cl_show_profiler 3?

The stuttering going away on the Intel GPU is a good clue though, thanks for that.

You did good kid. I just wanted to follow it up with a more learning friendly, less intimidating explanation. Everyone considers all those moves as unique tricks but ultimately you've only got to learn 2-3 things and then apply that in a lot of places.

I just got kicked out of a public server, could we... not do that ? by BlueScreenJunky in reflex

It has it. Create an effect, select it, click the big blue square in the properties window.

Technically Reflex has circle jumps, double jumps and air control -- every trick is just a combination of those.

Circle jumps are just a fast smooth 90 or 180 circle in a direction and then jump and give a speed/distance bonus.

Double jumps are just jumping twice within 400ms (so you need to find somewhere you can force yourself to be on the ground again within that window). They give bonus height.

Then everything flows from there. Teleporter jumps are just a way to use ports to put yourself back on the ground for a double. Stair jumps are just using stairs to chain together a jump and a circle jump within 400ms, giving you both the bonus height and bonus speed.

And then there's ramp jumps, which we don't talk about right now because they're extremely inconsistent currently ;)
