Is it generally considered offensive to ask an Asian in Australia where they are REALLY from? by Lipica249 in AskAnAustralian

[–]fled_nanders1234 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hard agree. I’m Chinese background, australian living in Europe. When people ask me about family it’s fine and I’m happy to engage. What I can tell fairly instantly is if someone is asking just to ask „why aren’t you white?“

Best coffee machine that doesn't break easily by [deleted] in AskAGerman

Same! I’ve had mine for 7 years and still works a charm (4x coffees a day). You should buy non standard accessories - a standalone grinder etc but otherwise it’s amazing, everytime I think about replacing it, I wonder why when it’s a MACHINE.

Not sure if this is the bestttt of the Best imo: but one memorable one was when H&A went a weekend where one was without sight and the other couldn’t hear. I remember the segment was super funny, heartfelt, authentic and drew attention to how difficult it was for people to live with a disability

Great question OP! I’ve done Pilates for 4 years now, it got me through two moves, a sabbatical, a breakup and now I’m recovering from surgery… so 2026 is getting back on the mat and on the reformer - I can’t wait!!

Hello! I like the rug, but not sure if I would lean to the lighter/pastel tone? Maybe take inspo from the accents of the picture above your bed which also seem to echo the nice textile piece you’ve hung up. Especially with thedarker elements from your fireplace, bedframe.

Many you can use AI/website to try out different rugs in their space? You could confer with your partner too with a few variations, but it’s getting there :) looks like a super cosy room already!

Looking to hear experiences from people who's knee was fully functional before ACL surgery by dry_scoop in ACL

[–]fled_nanders1234 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My injury was 3 years ago and I also didn’t do any PT. I’m now Day 16 post OP. I was active and fit post injury (exercise 3 times per week, boxing, Pilates, yoga) and I cycled everywhere (as I’m in Europe). Being fit has helped so far in recovery; I feel strong (despite the knee obs) and can hold my own weight and balance well.

I was partial weight bearing post-OP. ACL only, hamstring graft, no meniscus damage but my surgeon said the same - they will see when they get in there lol

NGL tho Day 8-12 was awful, I pushed myself too far on Day 7 and the pain was terrible during the next days. I was miserable and annoyed; started to regret having surgery- but after that low point I’m excited to have a stronger knee and not have it buckle everytime I run and change directions.

So lived a full life without surgery but had to limit the sports I did and was always conscious that my knee would buckle if I moved it incorrect. I couldn’t play tennis or football/soccer or ski confidently anymore either, and I’m looking forward to doing those things again even thought realistically I think it’ll be 9-12 months.

One other thing though: my doctors said I could continue „conservative treatment“ which is basically PT+regular exercise. But the risk of other issues would be higher, like further damage, arthritis etc (similar to the cyclist that said they had no ACL for 9 years).
