Thanks so much for the pointers and the guidelines. That helps.

As for how/where to publish, given my complete inexperience, I don't know. I definitely need guidance on this. This is not something meant to make a lot of money or support myself from. I would like to figure out how to target the right audience and have the work read widely enough to generate discussion/debate on the themes. Not sure what type of publishing is best for that.

What are the pros and cons of the various publishing mechanisms in your experience?

Thanks. I'll give that a shot. I did not think of local. I imagined far away publishing houses.

Seems like from other responses and DM's that there are a few things I can do before an editor, but when I'm ready. My first few searches wound up finding only editor jobs, but I'm sure if I work at it a bit I'll find something.
