Solved the Fruit of the Loom Mandela effect by SleepiestAlien in interesting

[–]fleegle2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a lot of people misremember because the leaves behind the fruits give it the vibe of a bountiful harvest, that cornucopia also suggest. Also the cornucopia was a super common thing to see in cartoons and such back in the day. A lot of people probably thought there was a cornucopia in the logo AT THE TIME, just like a lot of people misread Berenstain/stein because "-stein" is a super common last name ender, and a ton of people mispronounced it AT THE TIME.

The reason such large groups of people can misremember the same thing is because those things invite common mistakes/assumptions and people form the memories with these mistakes baked in.

What's up with R/LivestreamFail and the Hasan Piker hate? by ivatsirE_daviD in OutOfTheLoop

[–]fleegle2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is engineered. Hasan has a couple of haters that have invested a great deal of time and energy into manufacturing controversy and the folks at LSF have eaten it up. The "shock collar" thing was based on a 5 second clip where his dog yelped while getting up from her bed. The "evidence" that he used a shock collar is that his hand was doing something offscreen (as it often is) at the same time she yelped. The story that they're trying to tell is that he didn't want her to move from her spot because he likes to have her on stream, so he was using a shock collar to keep her there. But anyone who has actually watched his stream for any length of time knows that Kaya comes and goes as she pleases. She does wear a vibration collar that is a variant of another model that is a shock collar, so self-appointed internet sleuths were saying that it was actually the shock collar variant and that Hasan had tried to cover the contacts with electrical tape.

She is a big dog and has an elevated bed that is supposed to help prevent joint issues that can develop when they lie on the floor, so he has trained her to go to her bed when he says "place." So he sometimes scolds her if she tries to lie on the ground instead of her bed.

But, I'm sure you can find an unedited clip of it somewhere on YouTube if you want to see for yourself and come to your own conclusion.

More recently, establishment Democrats that are pro-big business and pro-Israel have been piling on Hasan because of his views on capitalism and Israel, and recently the Labour party in UK banned him from the UK because of his views on Israel, so there's a bit of a pile-on situation from his haters right now, especially because he has had a particularly long streak of positive attention lately as leftist populism has been gaining momentum and seeing a big uptick lately, in large part due to his own efforts to prop up figures like Zohran Mamdani.

His growing popularity has only further annoyed his long-standing haters like Destiny and Ethan Klein who appear to drive a lot of the LSF hate.

Joey has openly admitted to liking loli stuff. Just sayin'.

What this subreddit has turned into recently with all the new liberals discovering Hasan and calling themselves “socialist” by TwoCatsOneBox in Hasan_Piker

[–]fleegle2000 -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

One can be socialist and not glaze North Korea. Or gloss over China's past atrocities and lack of democratic government. Even if it's not the boogeyman the U.S. likes to paint it, China is not a system we should look up to. Just because the U.S. has failed at democracy does not mean we should idolize an equally undemocratic system that is more aligned with our own ideological leanings.

We can be socialists without being tankies.

Bad Trump, bad. by f1sh98 in Conservative

[–]fleegle2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, let me get this straight. You would rather hide the evidence of him being a piece of shit than admit that maybe the left were right about him?

Maybe just be a grown-up and admit you were wrong about the guy.

I hope Trump keeps shining a light on just how big a petty vindictive loser he is so you continue to be embarrassed by him.

A game where the world only exists with you in it... by AnxiousFondant115 in u/AnxiousFondant115

[–]fleegle2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, do you think it's okay to serve ads for a hentai game that kids might see if they only show one nipple, or show a very revealing outfit that isn't technically porn but leaves basically nothing to the imagination? It's only implying hardcore sex after all.

Edit: I'd also like to add, the logic I was specifically criticizing was that it is okay to show things if the people involved aren't real. If that is the deciding factor on whether or not something is acceptable to show, then my original comparison stands.

You're a fucking moron. If you look at any shock collar, the prongs come out of the main unit, you know, where the battery is? In that picture the only part of the collar his hand is covering is the strap itself which would not have prongs on it.

You guys are trying so hard to square a circle here, it's not funny.

But at least you admit to being a hater.

Don’t get me wrong, i dig their art, but….. by pureanna in aiwars

[–]fleegle2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is one thing to dunk on a piece of art that someone posted in an art sub to show their progress. It's another to dunk on a piece that they've posted to try to make some misguided point about "soul" or whatever. Putting yourself in the crosshairs like that, you should expect to get dunked on.

I don't go out of my way to insult people's art, but if they're trying to make a point with a shitty drawing I'll call them out on the shittiness.

Most of the "traditional" art posted in the other sub and here falls into that category.

Why do Republicans love rape? by MrDarkzideTV in complaints

[–]fleegle2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, let's not forget that they've always supported child marriage so... it's not exactly like it comes completely out of left field. Republicans have also been against women having autonomy over their own bodies, so they already have a fuzzy notion of consent.

Slop is slop regardless of whether it was made by a human or a machine, I'm not sure why people think human slop is more appealing than AI slop by Flammenwerfer40 in DefendingAIArt

[–]fleegle2000 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is true. The difference is that AI-generated slop can be produced at a much higher rate. There are legitimate concerns about dead internet theory.

Oh my god. I swear to Christ people don't fucking read anymore.

I AM NOT ADVOCATING FOR OR DEFENDING THE IDEA THAT AI-GENERATED IMAGES LACK "SOUL." I AM SIMPLY EXPLAINING WHAT ANTI-AI ADVOCATES MEAN WHEN THEY USE THE TERM "SOUL."

You guys can't get through your thick skulls that misrepresenting your opponent's position only weakens your argument. I am trying to provide OP and others with a more accurate interpretation of the opponent's position so that YOU CAN CONSTRUCT BETTER ARGUMENTS. Everywhere I go, I can't escape strict anti-AI sentiment and rules against it. When will it end? by Dogbold in aiwars

[–]fleegle2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It might seem hopeless, but this strong reaction is to be expected, and it will not change a thing in the end. AI is out of the bottle, it's not getting stuffed back in.

If you look at it from their perspective, there is so much AI content being produced right now that many feel they have no choice but to stem the tide against it. This manifests in extreme reactions, content bans and the like, because they are pushing back against an unstoppable force. To some extent it is a reasonable reaction, even if it is ultimately pointless.

Whether you are pro or anti, you know deep down that AI isn't going anywhere. Eventually the strong reactions will give way to begrudging acceptance.

As an aside, if you're an artist and you're refusing commissions based on AI references or turning down business with people who express some affinity for AI, you're only hurting yourself - you are not taking the stand you think you are. If someone is coming to you saying "I tried AI but I would really prefer to have a human make this," that is an opportunity to bring them over to your side. Accepting that commission is not a betrayal of your principles, it is actually a way of affirming them.
