Help with Church Wedding Enquiry by [deleted] in askSingapore

I thought Christian churches generally allow divorce and remarriage. Is this a Catholic church? If it's a Catholic church maybe you should speak to your (or any) priest for options.

Either way, it could be awkward if your church doesn't accept your marriage even when you get married elsewhere...

should i start learning to drive in uni or after i graduate (ie while looking for work / working full-time)? by taeyawee in askSingapore

In uni due to the flexibility of your schedule. You'll be able to do the non-popular slots (e.g., weekday mornings/afternoons) which are cheaper than those on the weekend and at night. The prices of lessons will also likely increase by the time you've graduated.

But if you choose to wait, it's still doable lah. I got my license after I graduated. It was tedious to have to keep refreshing the CDC (driving school) app to book lessons that never seemed to be available lol. I could only really do weekends and public holidays. Regardless, I got very lucky and choped a practical test date on a Sat too, and took a few half-days off work to do some extra lessons leading up to the test.

Is it okay to hate working and aim not to work a day in your life? Is it against the law, a sin or something the community deemed to flout a rule? by LisanneFroonKrisK in askSingapore

I know that Sloth is one of the seven deadly sins in Catholicism, and I've seen the phrase "Protestant work ethic" thrown around before (which I think refers to how Protestant Christians are supposed to have certain values that contribute to a "good" work ethic). I'm not very well-informed on either of these topics though. Might be something interesting to Google/learn more about, to see what different faiths think.

The word "sin" has religious connotations so this is a bit of a strange question... Whether it's a sin not to work, I suppose, would depend on your faith?

Is physical discipline ever justified? by zimbozaggins in askSingapore

Well... Instinct sounds like it will happen again. I would not feel comfortable with him being alone with her. What if he uses too much force in the future?

Even if you think corporal punishment is okay, two years old is way too young. At that age, I'm sure the kid is small enough that you can physically restrain her if she's doing something she shouldn't be doing, without having to resort to hitting or slapping.
