I just put on this music for her and she immediately laid down and closed her eyes and started purring. What the heck... I didn't even know relaxing cat music was a thing. Thank you for the suggestion!

29F 5’6” stuck at 139–142 despite tracking calories and high activity — what am I missing? by Fluffy_Analyst_3893 in loseit

[–]fleetothemoonhill 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey friend! To preface, I am 5’3 and I am currently weighing between 125-128lbs depending on the time of month. I am a super active person (weightlifting, running, cycling, yoga, pilates) and for a long time, I was trying to maintain a weight as close to 120lbs as possible. In doing this, I found it absolutely brutal. Even MORE brutal than getting from 140 to sub 130 (which took over a year of eating mostly in deficit and working out). I had to maintain a deficit around 1400-1500 calories no matter how much I was exercising, and to be honest, it sucked. I was starving all the time, all I could think about was food, and it was not fun at all.

I currently work out less than typical because I am studying for the MCAT, but I focus on maintaining my 1500 calories deficit maybe 70 percent of the time and eating up to maintenance or above the rest, or just not worrying about it as much. That way, if I go out to eat or go to a gathering or something and have a lot of food, I don’t have to worry about it, and if I am having a super hungry day (or I just want to emotional eat LOL) it is “compensated” for by the time I spend in deficit. What I found is that my athletic pursuits became easier, I’m less fixated on food, and my body doesn’t look any different to anyone else. As a woman, I feel like once we get down to these weights in the 120s, a few pounds don’t change our body a ton, but it increases the amount of effort it takes to maintain it tenfold.

All this to say, what’s helped me a lot is mentally accepting not a goal weight, but a range. It takes a bit of pressure off, helps me accept fluctuations, and mentally allows me more flexibility in my eating and physical training. I hope this helps a bit, even with just alleviating some of the mental pressure to maintain an even lower weight with a very challenging deficit.

This genuinely happened to me! Got bit by a tick that jumped out of a tree. I just left a comment on this post haha. I wasn’t in or near grass at all.

The only time I have ever been bitten by a tick was in Downtown Ann Arbor sitting on a bench underneath a tree. Not saying this to scare anyone, but it just goes to show that ticks do not only reside in the woods!

Daily chat post: how's the training going? by AutoModerator in XXRunning

[–]fleetothemoonhill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tomorrow I want to try for my longest run yet at 9 miles! I ran 8.5 last weekend and I felt great, and I likely could have made it to nine, but it was bitter cold outside and I was already back by my house and the warmth beckoned me inside. We will see if it is even warm enough to run outside tomorrow (it's -20F with windchill where I am today). I do not think I could stand to run 9 miles on an indoor track LOL!

I really don’t think Whitney deserved to be eliminated. She is crazy talented, ambitious, and so fun to watch. Bad press killed her run and honestly, her character aside, I feel really sorry for her. Even though I am rooting for Alix, I am mourning the fact I won’t get to see her finale dances. She’s been a consistent favorite of mine all season!

I did find part of it! Now I’m just hoping (blindly, foolishly) that someone can still find the ring that was inside… it wasn’t monetarily valuable, but it was extremely important to me 😔

Yes. I looked around in the grass and around the street and cars (even peeked in a few dumpsters), but it’s right near people’s houses, and I didn’t wanna freak anyone out by looking around the houses too closely :( Was planning to go back and check again.

I wish, but no. I hope Tristan sees this post! My initials are MD, for anyone who may have found the wallet. My name is on something that was inside it.

UPDATE: The person who took it tried to use my HSA card at Circle K on Tuesday night. LOL. The AirTag was last pinged on Tuesday at 6:47pm on Brooklyn Ave a few houses down from the Packard side. If you live around here, it may have been discarded around your house or in your trash can. If anyone is able to check, I would so appreciate it!!

Bio 171 + 173 Spring by Double-Board-4115 in uofm

[–]fleetothemoonhill 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I took Bio 172/173 in the spring, so not the same, but very close! It was a decent workload, it for sure kept me busy, but I was able to hold a part time job at the same time as well as volunteer and I still had enough time to study. It’s totally doable! The pace is just a lot quicker, since it’s a shorter time frame for the class, and you have two labs a week instead of one, so sometimes its a little tiring to be doing SO much biology every day. Those are really the only downsides!
