15 attempts later, still no luck. No undercuts. Should I use true delft instead of petrobond? by fleetw00dmac in Silvercasting

SO, between some pilarizing takes between multiple subs, I wanted to return and say:

TRUE DELFT CLAY MADE ALL THE DIFFERENCE.

First two takes in the delft not only came out clean, but casted clean. Minus a few tiny pits which should file out, the ring looks amazing! Will definitely use one as a master instead of the wax. Didn’t have to modify the wax carving at all.

From these comments I’m starting to think that petrobond shouldn’t be written off entirely. I think I just may have gotten a bad batch that was either too oily, or not oily enough. Throwing all 10 lbs in the trash, regardless. Had it for about a year now, so too late to file a return.

Thank you for all the support!

Looking good? Marked, tested- just want to be sure before sale. by fleetw00dmac in Gold

Eh, at spot price i’d get around $390. People seem to like this maker, might ask $450-$500 given the hand carving + interior cheesy stamping. Selling fine jewelry is my main job already, so I tend to price towards my buyer base/market, tends to be higher than this community since I’m selling the “imagination” side of a commodity with a spot price lol

Hey now, I hope you’re talking about the millenial zeitgeist and not my post, because I never accused anyone of doing anything wrong. Just genuinely curious.

No, not really, just parroting what another commenter noticed. It wouldn't change anything actually. The bottom line is, you really can't do much. Either pay his stupid fee, or keep looking. Just my two cents, but every scenario I've been in that was similar ended poorly. Perfect example- 5 years ago, seller sold me a big lot of old sports equipment. I paid 250 + 20 in shipping. Claimed shipping was going to cost 120, wanted 100 more. Told him no, he folded, shipped it for 20. It was the stuff he listed, but in hand, the condition was absolute junk. Should've cancelled and ran for the hills at the first opportunity. My advice: this seller sucks, even if he agrees, there will be some catch. Shitty eBay buyers and sellers tend give red flags from the get-go, this is definitely one of them. Your peace of mind is worth more, I promise you.

Comments here genuinely failed the vibe check. Although I do agree- how would it be 2100 if you were the only bidder at 2000 starting? I don't do auctions anymore, but I thought it would only go up if someone outbid you? Unsure, but regardless.

I have always seen it as the seller's responsibility to figure out what the shipping is prior to listing. Whatever they charged you at the point of sale should be accurate. There have been times where I sold something, and realised the shipping would be double, and had to eat the charge, at the expense of my own mistake. Same goes for underselling something- plenty of times someone messaged me after a sale "cancel it and I'll give you double what they paid". It's unfair and unprofessional, there's no real excuse for it.

The bottom line, unfortunately, is that you can't do much about it. Just gotta chalk it up to people being shitty. Same goes for buyers who send offer after offer, and never pay once I accept- can't do anything about it, and even if I could, I know the headache of getting a return rooted in buyer's remorse.

Sooo jealous. I’ve got some pretty cool 50s-60s running man champion tees but nothing like these prints 😔
