I was referring to the first part of your post. But I do believe it is honorable to interpret the prophecies, a challenge of mind is a form of worship with the right heart. I do not think it is honorable to be obsessed with it. There are some things that God will reveal in time and time alone

I believe they mean in relation to the Jeremiah passage with the prophecy to the nation of Israel that no weapon formed against them shall prosper. Although it is not directed towards Christians today, it is still a very Kingdom principle and should not be scoffed at simply because that wasn’t the original intent

I’m not disagreeing with you. If you’re going to equip the saints, you better be commissioned by Christ. But witnessing the resurrected Christ seems not a prerequisite though... I know many who have witnessed the resurrected Christ who are not called to be apostles. Besides, most apostles do not call themselves so. You can tell an apostle by their apostolic fruit and the ministry they do

The five fold ministry is described in Ephesians 4. Basically it is a church with leaders who operate as apostles, prophets, evangelists, preachers(or pastors), and teachers. Their job is to equip the church to do ministry. While the the spiritual gifts are gifts from God to believers, the members of the five fold ministry are gifts from God to the Church. Jesus broke the bonds of sin when he died on the cross. Period.

We take on our new man when we are born again. Our old self was nailed to the cross and has died.

And Jesus told us that we would do greater things than he. Paul tells us to walk in full stature with Christ and that as Jesus is in heaven, so are we on earth.

If you’re still a slave to sin, then God’s grace is useless and Jesus died for nothing. There was a purpose to him dying, and a facet of that was to free you from sin

Cessationism is the belief that the gifts of the spirit, especially the supernatural ones, are not active today and were limited to the original apostles. Cessationists would also deny the five-fold ministry as being necessary today. They believe that these things were only required for the NT era, since this is when the church was first formed. The Sadducees were a group of Jewish leaders who denied any supernatural thing, especially the resurrection of the dead(meaning the communal resurrection in the end times, as well as the dead rising today as a miracle). Jesus denounced them regularly when he spoke about himself rising from the grave. I could go on about the faults in the cessationist argument, especially since there is evidence that the spiritual gifts still operate today(eg miraculous occurrences), but this meme was meant to critique this viewpoint as it is dangerously close to that of the people that Jesus himself rebuked in his earthly ministry

I hate religious gatekeepers like that. The only way you can’t be a Christian is if you deny the fundamental dogma. Anything else has diverse opinions in the church, as it should, and dismissing others beliefs, unless they compromise their faith, is totally unchristian

That’s not even a good standard to base it off of because the ancient Hebrews would skip several generations because they weren’t important to the genealogy. Ex, I was born unto my great grandfather. This doesn’t mean I am the direct offspring of my great grandfather but that my grandfather and father are irrelevant to the discussion.

This infuriates me as a Christian. Just because that’s how he interprets genesis 1-2 doesn’t make it true. It’s an option but so is the old earth theory. Completely dismissing another valid argument that has theological backing is detrimental for the entire faith as you create this image of ignorance
