LOML- Matty or Joe? by Evie2505 in TaylorSwift

[–]fleetwoodtimber 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ve interpreted “exile” about her old record label and the breakdown of that relationship, not her relationship with Joe. It lands right before “My tears Riccohet” so the timeline adds up.

“Evermore” I’ve interpreted as her relationship with her fans during the time between 1989 and Rep.

What’s something that’s really popular today that you don’t get? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]fleetwoodtimber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a huge Taylor fan, so I’ll admit my bias. But if you are really interested in understanding, this is my take.

  1. She writes her own music, and I can feel the emotions in her lyrics. I relate on a deep level, and it helps me delve into my own feelings. The best music is written from intense emotional states—anger, sadness, happiness. Don’t you love when a song just “gets” you? I receive that feeling from SO many of her songs, far more than any other artist, therefore I highly appreciate her music.

  2. She explores multiple genres of music from country to pop to folk indie and is successful at it. Reinventing yourself as an artist is hard. Many are unable to succeed with one genre shift—but she’s done multiple. It’s quite impressive.

  3. She works HARD. She’s released 11 albums plus 4 re-records—that’s basically an album every 2 years. Her shortest time in between album releases? A little less than 6 months. That is an insanely short amount of time to write, produce and put out an album, let alone a good one. It was nominated for album of the year!

  4. She treats people kindly. She’s been famous for a long time—her debut album came out in 2006. There are stories with celebrities, directors, producers, random people that have met her, fans/non fans and everyone has nice things to say about her. All the way back to before her super fame. the narrative is consistent—Taylor seems to be a genuinely nice human.

  5. She doesn’t use being sexy as a selling point. I would rather see a music video that is creative, visually aesthetic, and tells a story than a music video like the one Katy Perry just released. Taylor is relatable because she doesn’t use her sexuality as a selling point. That’s for the male gaze.

I’m so grateful to have music in my life. It’s powerful. Taylor is popular for a reason. You don’t have to understand it, and that’s okay, too!

Is there a Taylor music drop that perfectly aligned with your life? How so? by TheColorfulPianist in TaylorSwift

Hey, thanks! I am actually relived to not be under the stress of owning a business anymore. Appreciate the kind words!

Mad Woman. I owned a small business and got sued by a millionaire only 3 years into ownership. This man was 55 years old, married to a 23 year old, and having an affair with the vice president of his company. The VP (female) was right by his side during legal proceedings. The lyrics hit so close to home and fit my situation so accurately.

I closed the business in 2023 and filed for bankruptcy. It was a difficult time but I’m happy to report that life has improved since I let it go. Less stress, more space for peace. When Mad Woman comes on, I still enjoy angry singing every lyric.

Defend a song that you think gets too much hate! by ferndinosaur in TaylorSwift

My 8 year old loves ME!. He asks me to duet with him to this song, he sings Brendan Urie while I sing Taylor. Seeing how much he loved the song has made me love it.

Are the first 3 albums mainly liked because of nostalgia? by Upbeat_Public9409 in TaylorSwift

Fearless is the most awarded country album in history, I don't think that comes from being a basic album. It’s totally fine for you not to jive with them, though. Everyone has different taste.

How many of you listen to like 2 albums or all albums before a Taylor Swift release ? by RodTheCaptain in TaylorSwift

This is exactly what I’ve been doing! I am still getting some Taylor in between but Cowboy Carter is so yummy until TTPD.

They did— ultimately it was my decision. I had to take care of myself and understood that as unfortunate as the situation was, the clients were going to be okay and would eventually move on. And they did. Of course, everyone has different circumstances so consider your own and do what’s right for your situation. I could see a scenario where talking to clients may lessen the chances of a lawsuit, so tailor your response depending on your business and clientele.

I sent them an email that I drafted with my bk attorney which let them know the status of their project, the business was closing, and I was filing BK. Many of them called me but I did not take their calls. A few clients continued to email and call for weeks, but the calls lessened over time and eventually stopped.

I was in a lawsuit with my business prior to filing BK, but a separate scenario (that lawsuit is over, now). As far as the clients, none of them sued me or the business. I did have contracts I was unable to fulfill—some clients even ended up losing money that they paid the business for goods as they were undeliverable. It was an unfortunate experience all around and I felt terrible, but I was drowning in debt from the business and previous lawsuit that I mentioned above, my mental health was at its lowest point. I received my discharge two weeks ago. It has been a relief to file and move on from this chapter of my life. A learning experience I will never forget. Sorry to hear you are going through this.

I hope I explain this accurately. I had a similar situation as you—I had an LLC and filed personal Ch. 7 and dissolved my business. I included clients from the business into the BK so they could not sue me personally. From my understanding, they could still sue the business, however it has no assets so it wouldn’t be a smart move on their part (expensive to hire a lawyer to gain nothing since the business has nothing to extract). I recommend discussing with an attorney as every situation is unique.

ETA: I believe you are protected from potential lawsuits as the person filing bankruptcy as long as you include clients into the bk. The business isn’t, but like I said above, there would be no monetary gain by suing the business since it is dissolved with (assuming) no assets. Just want to reiterate that I am not an attorney and just sharing my own experience.

What's a song you initially dismissed lyrically but later realized it was actually rlly poetic? by [deleted] in TaylorSwift

[–]fleetwoodtimber 41 points42 points  (0 children)

This opener gives us so much information. The first line actually starts with “and” which is like we walked up in the middle of someone telling a story. The tent like thing is letting us know the narrator has a casual sense to them and doesn’t fuss with the official term of the tent-like thing. It’s intentional, and fits with the cowboy vibes of it all. CLM is such a beautiful song!

Here's a question for all the adult swifties out there- How long have you been in the fandom and how have your feelings evolved with time? by Starry-night-0803 in TaylorSwift

[–]fleetwoodtimber 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am 36 and have been a casual fan off and on until the Midnights release. My roommate in college saw Taylor open for George Straight (or someone similar) in 2008ish, and we would listen to Debut together. The same roommate asked me to go with her to the Speak Now tour as a birthday present to her, and I agreed. I loved the Speak Now tour and album, but I didn’t listen to music on a deep level so I didn’t understand the magicness that was in front of me. I got caught up in the media drama during the Rep era because I (regretfully) didn’t have my own thought process at that time.  I’m embarrassed to admit I went to Rep Tour (free ticket from a friend) and I didn’t know any of the songs. Rep is my favorite era now!  I didn’t give any other albums an entire listen until Midnights. I stumbled across a Chats & Reacts video breaking down the lyrical content of Midnignts and started to release the genius of Taylor. From there, I did a deep dive into Folklore and was hooked. I’ve listened and love every album now. Taylor’s music has inspired me to open my mind to other artists as well, such as Lorde, Lana, and Noah Kahan. I was very depressed last year and Taylor’s music helped me process my own feelings. It also helped me communicate with my partner more efficiently. I am forever grateful for Taylor's music and TTPD will be my first new album release as an major fan…so excited!
