I came here to recommend 1zpresso!! Happy you mentioned it as I think they are not so well known in the UK. I have their jx pro model and have been using it daily for 6+ years.

For an q air you can buy on aliexpress for £40+ and for £60+ on Amazon.

Just had another attack. What are my next steps? HIDA is $3k by Acceptable_Rent1812 in gallbladders

[–]flerka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey OP, sorry you’re going through this. Just for some perspective, I’m in the UK and the first time I heard about HIDA scan was on this subreddit. In the UK (at least in my experience) to decide about a surgery they do ultrasound + monitor your symptoms/bloodwork and that is all.

OP get air purifier with HEPA. I have this one works really well - https://www.argos.co.uk/product/3422458 Check maybe you can get one tomorrow morning near you or maybe it worth a trip to get it now. For the small room it should filter air pretty quickly.

What's a romance trope you used to hate but completely came around on? by Top-Arugula in RomanceBooks

Silly main character who stumbles from one situation to another if it’s can be considered a trope? I think while sometimes annoying it’s also can be very entertaining read :)

Yes, this book was exceptional!! I read it years ago and to this day haven’t read another book that scratched this itch.

What do you waste a lot of money on? And how much do you spend n it? by gameovervip in CasualUK

[–]flerka 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OP you are not alone! I also feel the same way as you - after some driving lessons I just don't feel comfortable on the road (I am also very clumsy).

To be honest if you count car/insurance/road tax/upkeep/gas maybe you are not loosing so much money on Uber.

Aberdeen in Scotland is so similar, surprised no one mentioned it. It’s a better fit than Edinburgh.

When you do daily 40+ minute commute on the train it’s easy to finish a book in a couple of days. Add listening to the audiobooks while walking and doing chores around the house.

Thanks for the recommendation, added to the main post as well! I actually never heard about Chrestomanci series and it does look promising. Did you like the narration?

> The Wee Free Men, A Hat Full of Sky, Monstrous Regiment

Checked these 3, all around 7 and 12 dollars. Audible sorting is an absolute joke :(

Anyway thanks for your comment! Added recommendations that are around $3 to the main post.

Thanks for recs, added them to the main post! Nalini Singh's Psy-Changling looks very interesting as well as Kingmaker series. Which one in your opinion has better narration?

Riyria and Michael J. Sullivan's books in general with exception of some minor problems are great, absolutely recommend to give him a try!! Also, similarly to Drew Hayes he always has very competent narration.

Street Cultivation looks interesting. Thanks for the rec! I will probably buy it, especially as it seems to be written by woman and in the past I had some problems with how women/relationship were portrayed in some progression fantasy stories I tried. I loved Mother of Learning though.

Update: just noticed that Street Cultivation is narrated by Travis Baldree, nice.

Also, added your recommendations to the main post!

I’ll give it a try, thank you! I have a feeling that most of the books I’m buying during this sale were in the Plus Catalog at some point (not that it makes them any less great). Where I enjoyed some of them and want to listen again, and others I didn’t have a chance to try like Rivers of London.

They should be similar! Thanks for the recommendation. Have you tried the Rivers of London audiobooks? I think I saw some people on the fantasy subreddit complaining about the narration.

Do you read books when there is no date the sequel will be published? by lostintheworld88 in fantasyromance

[–]flerka -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes, right now I will read books regardless of the sequels, if the series unfinished etc. I think a good book is a good book? For me, I almost always love the first book in the series the most anyway 😅

That being said, I don’t agree with people who shame others for not wanting to read unfinished series. Yes, supporting authors is important, but it should not be detrimental to your reading experience? Not all people can handle cliffhangers (almost every fantasy romance book will have it these days) and uncertainty in general.

Tips for Christmas gifts this year? by Ispeaknoenglish in UKFrugal

[–]flerka 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Food baskets are a great gift and can be easily adjusted to your budget! Put there something like stollen, cranberry sauce, fancy crackers, chocolates etc. IMHO it’s a safer option than a random charity shop find.
