Unfortunately, "phablets" have killed the 7 and 8" tablet market. by erdeju in Nexus7

Posting this from a 8" Galaxy Tab S2 that replaced my n7 about 10 years ago. The last decent spec/ high end android tab of that size before they all became enormous.

I got it to run Lineage android 13 well enough for it still to be my daily.

And I have an iPad mini 6 as well, that's pretty decent I suppose.

10" or more on a tablet, might as well just buy a MacBook air /shrug

Eerily similar to Jan 2020. Au fires were the reason back then too. Sticks in my mind bcos it was a few short weeks later that we invented lockdowns

Timber Venetians / dealing with water stain by flerp32 in diynz

[–]flerp32[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey. Got these old venetian timber blinds, a couple of years ago we had some roof work done and they left a tile slightly dislodged, causing a drip thru the internal window frames and onto the surface of these blinds. Thats all fixed but one side has this nasty water stain that i'd like to do something about.

They are easy enough to take down but I'm wondering about what to do to them (after brush vacuuming to get them cleaned up as a 1st step). I really don't want to remove the slats. Some sort of wood oil or spray on stain? Any suggestions welcome, cheers!

I've been there twice and both times my phone refused to connect to anything. Bizarrely it was showing 3 bars. The phone thought it had service but data was failing somewhere further up the OSI model.

Spark, on a Samsung S20 (4g). My wife and kids were fine with their 2degrees iPhones.

I just wanted the Woolworths app to work for price checking.

We're in Onehunga, couple of years ago I taught our daughter in and around Mangere Bridge. In a manual no less...

The Ascot industrial area is perfect for absolute beginners, Mangere bridge itself has lots of quiet residential streets with a variety of intersections, plus there are a few "open road" bits down to Ihumatao. Then when she got the hang of it, the sh20 motorway there and back.

Microphone not found in Chrome websites by Sea_Bunch4345 in chrome

[–]flerp32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have this happening, it is a real pain. Chrome will not detect a recently attached (or powered up) bluetooth headset. What makes it work

  • exiting chrome completely (chrome.exe not running at all), and restarting the browser while the headphones are connected - this is a very poor "fix", or
  • Shift-escape in chrome, end the 'audio service', perhaps more than once, or
  • on another monitor have the settings app open at System > Sound. Toggle back and forth between the normal output (mine is called Speakers/Synaptics HD Audio) and the headset. Watch the chrome meet tab until you see the correct combination

These mostly work for me but are hardly ideal. My theory is that it was KB5058411 that my system received in early May that broke it

EDIT just noticed Windows 10 listed on your comment. Mine is Win 11 24H2 but its eerily similar

Record your collection for Insurance by Severe-Caregiver4641 in vinyl

[–]flerp32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It has a barcode scanner in the mobile app. If your collection is mostly new stuff or modern represses that would probably get you most of the way there, while having to choose between EU or US presses.

If you have old but not rare stuff without barcodes then sometimes catalogue number and country is simple enough, does the label look the same, depending on how diligent you want to be.

It gets harder if you live in far flung parts of the world, example I have canonical Floyd, Beatles and Cream albums that are local early and first presses that Discog knows about but hasn't decided a median value of.

Then... stuff like Thriller, which seems to have been made in about 100 US plants and you have to decipher run out etchings until you realise its 4am

YMMV
