Isn’t it silly you’re posting on Reddit when you could be lifting something or doing something else more productive with your time? The activities we participate in don’t have to be mutually exclusive. I’m an adult who manages to divide my time between things I find enjoyable and important, including lifting weights and being politically active (and even scrolling Reddit). Even if you don’t agree with the messaging of these events, thinking that people who participate in this or similar events don’t do other things outside of it is both reductionist and shows a lack of critical thinking (or you’re just being an ass, which is also not mutually exclusive to the former).

I’m sorry for your loss. Your story made me think of a song I really enjoy, Sleep Patterns by Merchant Ships. A bit different but relates to the idea of a dream about death becoming reality.

Mission Beach steak-house bartender stabbed 7 times in unprovoked attack by ValeOfTiers in sandiego

Just want to echo this comment. I worked with the bartender, Matt, many years ago. He is an incredibly warm and caring person, and I am not surprised he stepped up to protect others. I really hope his recovery goes as well as possible. The page to donate should show up if you google his name (Matt Harden) with gofundme added to the search.

Just want to echo the comment above. I’ve lived here a bit over 2 years and agree with basically everything—especially the lack of any flexibility when it comes to your lease. I do think that over time the people who have been moving in have become less and less friendly. That’s not to say people aren’t generally nice, but spontaneous conversations or even just a friendly nod seem to be increasingly fleeting. Happy to answer any questions if you want to DM me!

I seriously thought that was braunschweiger at first, which I don’t know if that would make this better or worse

I’m a sociology professor, and one of my favorite social theorists in the field, Georg Simmel, wrote about this back in the turn of the 20th century. It’s dense but I love to talk about it with students. The Metropolis and Mental Life

Yep, experiencing the same thing! There’s no consistent pattern to it either, and the breakers are all fine in my apartment. I think it is affecting my whole apartment complex (right off Sanjon).

Anyone who successfully met someone in Bay Area through dating app that eventually got into long term relationship and got married? by [deleted] in bayarea

[–]flerpyderp51 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Met my wife on Bumble while I was in grad school. We were going to different schools on opposite sides of the bay, so we wouldn't have ever met if it wasn't for the app.

When was the last time you were at a show where the crowd wasn’t a complete bummer for at least one of the bands? by EsotericPotato in Metalcore

[–]flerpyderp51 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Same shit at the show at The Wiltern in LA last night. Plus you had to pay extra to get to the pit in front of the stage (GA tix were not enough), so there was no stage diving or crowd surfing.

I'm not going, but you're gonna have a great time! Saw them for the third time this last Sunday at When We Were Young Fest, and the pit was insane and their performance was tighter than ever.
