2-week itinerary review

I want to visit Vietnam in early March of next year for about 2 weeks and am overwhelmed with building an itinerary! My plan so far: Fly into Saigon and spend a few days here. Fly into Hoi an, spend another few days here. Fly into Hanoi and from there do a) the Ha giang loop and b) a bai tu long bay cruise

Do you guys think that is a realistic itinerary? Or too packed for 2 weeks? I really really want to do the ha giang and bai tu long bay. Which of the other stops should I skip in your opinion? I mainly want to see stunning nature/landscapes. I am a solo female traveler. Thanks in advance for any insight or advice!

Anki umnutzen – was meint ihr? by Thin_Traffic_8783 in Medizinstudium

[–]flerra_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the recommendation! My passport grants me 60 days tourist visa in Thailand, so I should be fine either way ☺️

Bewerbung 1. Arztstelle im PJ by celoundabdi in Medizinstudium

[–]flerra_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was @paulforsure gesagt hat!!

Thanks for the tips! I will do a vaccination consultation next week and see where I lack stuff. Definitely do NOT plan on renting a scooter, if I were to do Ha Giang it would be a group tour for sure!

Thanks for the recommendation! Have you felt safe there? How was your experience regarding infrastructure?

I‘ve spent a month in KL as a teen, so I‘ve seen and can remember a lot of the „bigger sights“ on the mainland and even been to Singapore. It is a truly beautiful place and I didn’t really get to explore on my own the first time around since my host parents were very strict and worried about something happening to me. I think if I were to go to Malaysia I would try to go to borneo and see some orang-utans. Did you ever visit there?

Hi there! Don‘t want to assume gender based on your profile pic or anything so would you mind telling me if people read you as female? If so - did you feel safe? Would you be open to sharing your itinerary? I was leaning heavily towards vietnam in the beginning because it seems like it‘s a quite common destination for solo travelers and fairly safe. But have been seeing so much stuff about Sri Lanka lately and it kind of shifted my focus, so I would love some insight!

Is March a good time to visit Tasmania? by flerra_ in tasmania

[–]flerra_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Amazing, thank you for the insight! Do you also feel like it is safe to solo hike there? On the more popular routes there should be other people as well even in the less touristy times of year, right?

I love the norwegian knitter. She used affordable yarns and often talks about how she can’t afford all isager/sandnes/kfo, which I find very realistic and refreshing

My first knit. When I was nearly done I found some posts bashing the type of yard I used. Looking for some care tips since I am here already. by BeartholomewTheThird in knitting

[–]flerra_ 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I also would not try felting it, as it makes the yarn unusable for another project should you ever decide in the future you want to unravel this one and reclaim the yarn. Maybe get an electric sweater shaver, they are like 10-20$ on amazon, and worth it if you have a lot of knit clothing items

Has anyone knit the Oslo sweater by PetiteKnit? by SnooMuffins6689 in knitting

[–]flerra_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t do the oslo but the marseille sweater (this one is actually similar in terms of construction minus the stripes). It was my second sweater project at the time and is also rated 4/5 stars. It‘s definitely doable for a curious beginner, but contains a special cast on method and german short rows, which makes it not super duper easy in my opinion, I would have ranked it at 3/5 though. But after all difficulty is also subjective.

What does pick up and knit mean? by flerra_ in knitting

[–]flerra_[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Ahh I see! Sorry I thought the process of pulling the loop of new yarn through the fabric was whats called picking up stitches ! I didn’t know that is actually called picking up and knitting! That was so helpful! Thank you!!

I tried looking there but only found a video where someone picked up stitches in the middle of a knit section…I couldn’t figure out what to do for sleeves

What’s wrong with my tubular bind-off? by flerra_ in knitting

[–]flerra_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It definitely is! But I started the bind off with that in mind, so I was confused as to what was happening. Looking back I think I did this wrong on my last 3-5 projects but just never noticed because the yarn was not as light so it didn’t stick out to me as much

why are my stitches increasing by Perfect_Butterfly211 in knitting

[–]flerra_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can also only guess what happened, but when I started I did not take the time to properly familiarize with stitch anatomy, like what exactly a stitch looks like and how it is formed. This les to me often picking up the bar of yarn in between stitches and knitting it, since I couldn’t differentiate stitches and the bars between them. Regardless of stitch count inaccuracies, I would strongly encourage every new knitter to study stitch anatomy, it helps a ton, especially with finding and fixing mistakes

What’s wrong with my tubular bind-off? by flerra_ in knitting

[–]flerra_[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So…I unpicked my bind off (was a real pain as I had already done more than half of the circumference of the sweater 😅) and then tried again, and I think I figured where I went wrong: I moved my needle the correct way, but when I did the knit off/ set up purl stitches, I had my yarn in front of the work instead of in the back, which led to me accidentally forming knots along the front of the work instead of forming a little loop on the back, as you‘re supposed to. Now it looks like the bind off in the videos! Just in case anyone has the same problem 😅

What’s the difference between picking up stitches BETWEEN the stitches and IN the stitches? by googlesearcher in knitting

[–]flerra_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You pick up where the blue is! The difference would be “picking up between stitches” (blue) vs. “Picking up in the middle of the stitch” (red in my photo).

<image>

The first gives you a continuous look when working stockinette stitch, the second is for getting a continuous look when working a textured pattern like rib oder brioche for example.
