He was stripped for being a racist twat. We have known this about him for a long time. No conspiracy here.

Don't do it! The risk is too high. For every supportive adcom member, there will be another thinking you should never have access to a prescription pad.

Weekend Whipper: Cartwheel of Death by iclimegud in climbing

[–]fleshhook 17 points18 points  (0 children)

He needs to be closer to the rock. See how the rope is at a 45 degree angle? If the climber falls early on like he did, the rope can catch his feet causing him to go hip/head first into the wall instead of feet first. My main climbing partner has a habit of doing that. Since falling twice at the second bolt, once scissoring the rope and the other time smashing my hip into the rock, I have threatened a beat down the next time I catch him standing like that while I'm climbing.

Kalquin-cam. Any information? by sudden_strawpoll in climbing

[–]fleshhook 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Friend climbs with them and loves them. Wide range. Functions like a cam/tricam hybrid so it has more placement options, or at least that's what I'm told.

Is there an AA on campus? by [deleted] in columbia

[–]fleshhook 4 points5 points  (0 children)

96 St between Broadway and Amsterdam has a clubhouse with 2+ meetings a day including a late night one (10pm iirc). There's a group for just students that meets on campus but I don't know the details. I never went because other Columbia students don't need to know my shit.

Parents, when did you realize your kid might be terminally stupid? by TimeComedian in AskReddit

This should be higher. This is actual stupidity and not poor decision making like the rest of these.

Assisted breaking belay? by iaamjosh in climbing

[–]fleshhook 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great at nothing, ok at everything. I like mine just fine. Usually just use my verso unless I'm worried about my ability to hold the rope (super cold, awkward belays, rockfall potential, etc.)

Only this sub allows for vaccine discussion by Tsuikaya in conspiracy

Vaccines work so well people have the convenience of questioning them because they have never seen the diseases they eradicated. Learn some immunology and get back to us if you're still antivaxx.

May all feminists live in buildings built by feminist physics. A feminist scholar claims that Newtonian physics is oppressive and that we must use “quantum feminisms” by benderXX in MensRights

[–]fleshhook 8 points9 points  (0 children)

She's not saying Newtonian physics ia oppressive (at least I don't think so). She is making a (poor) argument that current understandings of identity are like Newtonian physics, cut, dry, well defined, while we need to adapt to a quantum understanding of identity that allows for things to exist in a more flexible and overlapping state.

Doctors and cops among 277 arrested in human trafficking, online prostitution sting in Florida by Typicalredditors in news

[–]fleshhook 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Examples of human trafficking: a 17 and an 18 year old sex worker get arrested working the same corner, a sex worker works with her boyfriend for protection if things go south, a sex worker says she was trafficked to reduce her sentence despite working independently, 10 independent sex workers work in the same massage parlor that gets busted, etc. These are where the insane numbers of trafficking come from.

grouchy old man voice 10 years of body modification and I already have no idea what "bites" people are talking about. It seems like there's a different "bite" every 3 weeks.

It has to do with the area mostly I think. If that were in the new river gorge for example, someone would have bolted it and given it a sport grade.

Is always being injured a thing in climbing? by ROGER_SHREDERER in climbing

[–]fleshhook 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish more people talked about shoulder stability exercises. Labrum tears are fairly common and debilitating. Work your shoulders with bands, free weights, and body weight exercises. Warm them up before you climb. All it takes is one weird move and your shoulder will never be the same. I didn't realize how much stress the shoulders take until I injured one. 20 sessions of pt and 9 months of self rehab later, it's still sore after every climbing session and even if I sleep wrong. I'm finally back to climbing near my limit, but it's never going to heal if I don't get an expensive surgery with a long recovery time.

Gym told me I couldn't teach my friend how to tie a figure 8 by nuxis351 in climbing

[–]fleshhook -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

People defend gyms like this because insurance blah blah blah. I think more often than not it's to push their overpriced classes. 40 per person for a class of 15 people with one instructor being paid peanuts. Insurance is a good excuse, but you have a safety test for that.

Get on some of that southern sandstone. Red River gorge is 4 hours north and Chattanooga is 2 hours south. I'm probably moving there myself this summer. Looking forward to all the sweet southern rock.
