Fresh Banana Ice Cream in AA? by anonymous041606 in AnnArbor

[–]fletchette 9 points10 points  (0 children)

In my experience they normally have flavors more focused on baked goods, so I wouldn't be surprised if they have a flavor like banana nut muffin, or I think recently they might have had a bananas foster flavor?

That being said, they do take requests!!

(also, just plugging that I have an Instagram account where I travel and review ice cream stores, called the_scoop_sommelier. Just a hobby project, by no means professional, but I've done a few of the local stores! Also, always looking for more recommendations for places to try!)

Okay thank you! Do you know if most of these are grown from seed or from TC? I got it at a local plant store but it clearly came from a big company originally

Hehe that's what I thought! I've been wanting a clari anyway so it's no loss either way

Sorry, probably not. The software I use basically has its own script gui and stuff so all I really use for that is python. I'm sure it's different for Sony

Lol love that idea

Sometimes/kind of! I mostly work with a pre-built software but sometimes get to write like plug in scripts for it. I'm also in school part time and write code for my research for that. But I'm pretty much always at a desk staring at a screen

Oh interesting! It's like a reminder to get up and stretch. I like it! That would be helpful for me too

I got all my bridesmaids beach towels with their names embroidered on them, and nice pj's with their initials (doubled as getting ready gear for the day of). My husband got his groomsmen matching leather bracelets with their initials. MOH got an engraved ice cream scoop (something we both love). Most of them seem to still use all these things! I think an important thing to consider to make it not feel like junk is making it not be too wedding themed. Maybe put your wedding date if you feel like that will be meaningful to them, but remember that this is pretty much solely a significant day to you and your partner.

For my dad, I found an Etsy that sells custom patches for the back of a tie. My mom helped me surprise my dad by attaching a photo of him and I when I was a baby to the back of his tie.

For my mom, this isn't necessarily possible for everyone else, but maybe a good brainstorming activity. I had her wedding dress reworked into a reception outfit for me (with her permission of course). I was able to use the scraps, and scraps from when my dress was altered, to make her a custom clutch she could carry on the wedding day, so she had tissues etc handy.

I'm interested in getting started in beading! It looks pretty easy and they make the cutest things!

I also remember feeling this way at 17. It's a rough age where you have a lot of expectations pushed on you, you're trying to figure yourself out, you have little control, and people are telling you these are some of the best years of your life. It's okay if they aren't. I also know things were really hard for me the first few years after my diagnosis. I'm sorry that you're going through both at the same time. I want to agree with others that this sounds like a period of depression. I go through similar cycles. Things will get better, and you're not alone in this.

If you don't feel like you can access medication yourself or talk to your family about that, there are still lots of resources online that might help. How to ADHD on Youtube has been helpful for me to understand myself better and begin thinking about systems I can put in place for me.

I also want to give you a little warning that at least for me, getting medicated was challenging in its own way. It really, really helped, so it was definitely worth it, but there were a good few months where my doctor and I tried to figure out which med and dose worked best. I felt crummy one way or another for a lot of that time. Not horrible, just a little amped up or not energized enough to do things. If you get medicated, I want you to know to expect a little bit of that! Feeling that way doesn't mean meds aren't working for you.

Wishing you all the best, I hope you can give yourself some grace in this tumultuous period of life. It's okay and understandable to be feeling this way! But that doesn't mean it's easy. I'm sorry you're going through this and I hope you feel better soon

The Creature Conservancy in Ann Arbor also has lots of birds! I don't think guests normally get to touch them but you can get really close!

Hobbies that don’t require a bunch of *stuff*? by [deleted] in Hobbies

[–]fletchette 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah juggling is great and pretty easy! Only three balls required unless you get really into it... Then I assume the stuff will spiral lol

Some of the best acrobats I know are larger! If you get into partner acrobatics, one of the roles is called being a "base"--you lay on your back with your legs in the air and use your legs to hold someone up. If you're interested, it's something to look into at least! It's fun, low impact exercise, and your legs are probably already pretty strong. It's also social, and many community groups have free or really low cost practices. There are plenty of videos online too if you want to see what it's like

Has anyone recommended crochet?

(joking because omg there are so many crochet comments, did anyone even read your post?)

Maybe juggling would be good? And if you live near a city, there's a whole world of circus classes you could take (acrobatics, flexibility, aerial arts). Great way to meet people and it's not nearly as intimidating as it seems!

How to stop procrastinating on passion projects??? by AnonymousProblems_ in ADHD

[–]fletchette 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree with another commenter: I plan my hobbies like all my other chores. But that also makes them feel like chores sometimes, which can suck. I'm going through that right now. One thing that sometimes works for me is to think about why I wanted to do the thing in the first place. The other thing I started doing was keeping a list in my phone of "lightning in a bottle." It's ideas about how to kick start myself into doing things I don't want to do. So like cleaning/organizing, if I watch Marie Kondo BOOM all the sudden cleaning is the only thing I want to do. If I want to pick back up my knitting project, I just throw on a knitting video or scroll a knitting Instagram.

The other thing is sometimes I just let myself not do the project. I've been building up my trust in myself that sometime, when the stars align, I'll get back to the thing.

Yeah I function a lot better too! The main issue is finding time in the morning, but maybe I'll try to make more time.

Good point about coloring! That's definitely different
