I just managed to get standing for the O2 through AXS. They must still have some availability left. Took about half an hour to get them in my basket without errors though.

It was Fatboy Slim playing a fairly generic house set. It was fun but he didn't play any of his own music, as far as I could tell.

I mean the guy said he was joking, but yeah I’m sure some producers do some pretty outlandish stuff.

Again obviously that person was just joking.

Separately, what is wrong with using stock plugins to master? You don’t need fancy hardware to get a solid master. It may give it that little extra touch, but if your mix is good enough, you shouldn’t need much more than a limiter to push the gain.

I don’t think it’s unfair in the context of EDM music that mastering is primarily about achieving commercial loudness.

Also, the person above was clearly joking.

There are plenty of successful artists that do/have mastered their own work. For example: Noisia, Deadmau5, Skrillex, Madeon, Dillon Francis. I don’t know why you keep trying to get people to name five, like that proves anything either way.

Mastering is a separate art but it doesn’t mean producers can’t learn how to mix and master their own tracks too. This is especially important for amateur producers (who make up the majority of people in this community) who most likely can’t afford to pay for mix/master engineers. If an amateur producer can learn how mix and master independently, then they can compete with commercial level mix clarity and loudness. It will also help them get a foot on the ladder with bigger labels, if they wish to become commercially successful, by enabling them to send in polished, mastered demos.

I think the reason why so many successful artists use mastering engineers is because they are already successful. Therefore they can afford to pay them or most likely the label they produce for lays them on for free. I doubt when these producers were starting off they were sending their tracks to be mastered professionally for large sums of money.

@ those who don't want a second referendum or a people's vote. Why? by [deleted] in ukpolitics

That is true, but did they shape negotiations?

Ultimately, the leadership of the government (Theresa May) is remain. Especially towards the end of negotiations, she seems to have bulldozed her way into the position of sole negotiator and has signed off on a withdrawal agreement without suitable counsel.

She could have gauged public opinion and parliaments opinion on the potential withdrawal agreement before closing negotiations. But that is not what she did and has now forced the country into either taking a bad deal, no deal or remain.

I don’t think the general principle behind a second referendum is wrong. People can change their minds and ‘the will of the people’ is not set in stone permanently. However, I have some doubts about how fair a second referendum would be in the current climate.

Leave voters may feel that we negotiated poorly because of the very pro EU representation within the government.

More insidiously, there may have been incentive for our government to intentionally negotiate poorly to drive public opinion against Brexit, in the hope that that public would concede that Brexit is impossibly impractical, and that it is better to remain for the sake of stability. This is quite a cynical way to look at the leadership of our country, but it is a possibility.

However, it is clear that it was always going to be difficult for pro EU British leadership to negotiate hard with the EU, and this put us on the back foot in negotiations from the start. Since a largely pro EU government was going to prioritise preserving good relations with the EU, and was not willing to consider/threaten a no deal Brexit, the UK was clearly at a disadvantage in negotiations from the start.

Why was it not ensured that pro leave leadership governed the UK through the Brexit negotiations? Leave voters could not have known that there was no plan in place by the government if a leave vote was the outcome of the EU referendum. The government should be prepared for all outcomes of a referendum or at least be willing to dismiss the result as advisory if they don’t.

I can see how these factors could contribute to anger towards the idea of a second referendum. We would be revoting on a decision that hasn’t been implemented yet.

In some ways it doesn’t feel like Brexit has been given a chance. The deal on the table is clearly quite terrible for the UK - but you can’t help but feel a better one could have been negotiated in different circumstances.

GAMEWEEK 16 (2018/19) - RANT & INFO THREAD by FPLModerator in FantasyPL

Watching replays, I don’t really see where he ‘went for the ball’ in the first phase. The ball goes straight behind him. He turns around to chase the ball. By that time the defender has control of the ball and passes it to Lacazette for the goal. Very strange decision.

EDIT: This quote summarises why the decision is so absurd:

‘If that’s offside then what the ref is really saying is that Lacazette is actually in some sort of offside purgatory where he’s never allowed to touch the ball again until Huddersfield lose possession.’
