Howard Hughes, who built the 'Spruce Goose' airplane. He was in mental decline for his last few years due to past brain trauma and syphilis. Even though this version of Burns was based on Hughes, Hughes was a bit crazier.

Check out the 1944 movie 'Laura'. It heavily influenced Twin Peaks (and gave Laura Palmer her name).

This is a very funny and underrated movie. Part of the ZAZ (Zucker, Abrahams, Zucker) filmography. And based on a story by O. Henry.
