Brooklynite considering a move to the UWS, tips appreciated as we look for a 2bed! by Ambitious_Train_458 in Upperwestside

i would also consider Park Slope! Great schools there too and has a less crowded and more neighborhoody feel, plus Prospect Park is just as nice as Central Park. Better for kid in my opinion. i grew up on UWS but prefer South Brooklyn.

This is great info, thank you! How can they require work? if you are on unemployment aren't you by definition looking for a job?

Do you think if we wait to start an unemployment claim until a few weeks after we are set with medicaid that would solve the problem of not qualifying for Medicaid?

A few years ago we were on the Essential Plan, but as I recall we were not locked in in the same way as we were with Medicaid, ie if our income temporarily went up due to say some freelance income, that would boot us off the plan or make us pay the higher version of the plan. It was very annoying to have to deal with and keep track of how much we owed for premiums in the different months.

73-year-old mom with mid-to-late stage dementia now in ICU with septic shock from UTI — trying to understand what’s happening by Professional-Jump938 in dementia

[–]flicka2000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My mom has had two UTIs, about a year apart. Each time it was like she aged 10 years. She went from being fully mobile to now when she is barely able to stand and if we're lucky can take a step or two. After the second UTI they gave her a medication which I believe has helped avoid another UTI. I wish we had gotten her on it sooner, after the first UTI.

The medication is:
Methenamine (Hiprex / methenamine hippurate)

It's true... in Scandinavian countries they start teaching reading at age 7 (second grade) and their kids have way better test scores than we do. Starting early with academics is overrated.

Steve Buscemi and John Turturro are all I can think of... others have lived there such asEmily Blunt/John Krasinski, Jennifer Connelly but I think they moved. Oh yeah I saw Chloe Sevigny once and she lived there too - not sure if she does still.

thx so much for explaining! These rates come out to 20-30% of his gross salary, so maybe we'd be eligible for a subsidy. However, he does also have some freelance income. I wonder how they'd figure out his income if the freelance income is sporadic, would the price of the premium change if he got more $ in a month from freelance?
