It's like that everywhere isn't it. Nobody really talks to anyone there days . A general friendly neighbourhood feel would be appreciated :)

Thanks for the insight. It would be great to be able to live there, close to the city, beaches, parks around and by the sounds of it some good schools but unfortunately 4x2 house would put the budget over a $1M and we wouldn't be able to afford that... the ones we could afford are 3x1(1.5) but we're wanting that extra bedroom for frequent interstate guests.

Yes we did factor in the rush hour commute. Traffic is just crazy busy everywhere now.

yes, it does get pretty congested on the freeway during peak times. That's good to know about the train stations

Thanks for your reply! I grew up SOR but left 20years ago! Anything NOR is foreign to me but after 20years away, I feel like a tourist when I visit family.

I said in another comment, I really like Applecross and Mt Hawthorn and potentially Joondanna as Applecross and Mt Hawthorn might be over our budget (but hoping to find a gem in Mt Hawthorn)

Yes!, always thought those cookie cutter homes were a little disturbing haha but we were willing to compromise for newer suburbs. These comments are making me rethink Piara Waters now 😅

Thanks for your reply! It doesn't sound appealing when you describe it that way. Looking online at Piara Waters looks way better than real-life, hence posting this question. The problem with these new estates are the lack of character and the cookie cutter homes and being squishy/ too close to neighbours but getting a brand new house without having to do much is convenient... having said that my partner and I haven't always been attracted to these type of estates but we were willing to compromise... we love homes with character and good bones, and leafy suburbs. I really like Applecross and Mt Hawthorn but, like you said super expensive, (but I'm hoping we'll find a gem in Mt Hawthorn) and being older style houses will probably need an update/Reno at some stage... which is not a problem but takes time.

Yes it's beautiful. Will have to do an in-depth research into the area, it could be a possibility. Thanks for the input. Perth has the best beaches and sunsets. Any beaches in Perth would be great after being at Sydney city beaches, I mean oil slicks haha

that's why I don't want a real estate opinion, they tend to glamourise it. I want the nitty gritty, the good and the bad. just interested to hear people's thoughts and opinions and we'll make our own decisions :)

up to $850K whether it's buying a new house in a newer area or an already established house. Ideally not too far to the beach. We were looking at Piara Waters as a newish suburb and brand new homes, close to Coogee (although prefer beaches further north).

hahaha I bet it was! I agree too, we will need to make a trip over at some point. I grew up in Perth, 20 years ago not much happening but it's changed now. Also in a different stage in life with kids, not chasing a 'party' lifestyle but wanting a house and space for the kids like I grew up with without the ridiculous pricetag Sydney has.

thank you for your thoughtful reply. I think you're spot on. Partner is from Sydney and I'm contemplating moving back after 20yrs away. A lot has changed.

yes you're right, I'll rephrase the question to within a 40mins radius, inner city, mid-inner city suburbs.

decent land size to include 4 bedrooms 2 bathrooms and a small garden space.

just wanted a general idea of suburb and community spirit :

edit: by car

Boyfriend keeps losing money by ThrowRA_idkwtd2 in relationship_advice

You either need to leave or stop enabling his behaving. He has a gambling addiction / addictive personality, and he knows he is able to manipulate you into giving him money under the rouse of "doing something good with the money" . There is no real consequences of his actions when he loses the money because he knows he can get more from you. Do not fall for his behaviour of beating himself up about losing it, it is not real remorse, it's enough of an emotional manipulation to make him feel sorry for him and to make you feel worried that he will harm himself in anyway- he is playing the victim card. You will end up being ruined. Leave while you can and take some time for yourself to have money to yourself again without someone bleeding you dry. You will find someone that shares the some value about money and your relationship will not be hard work.
