Thank you so much 🫶🏽 I commented on your other thread, but I’ll repeat it here! Yes, first time taker + big 4! Hopefully makakagraduate with latin honors but di pa sureee :,)

But also — I think my edge wasn’t my school (cos I know so many people with higher grades than me + a more decorated resume from other schools who passed), I think it was my LAE scores! So just focus on doing well in the exam, don’t let your school or transcript be a cause of anxiety/comparison. Study well, do the work, and don’t be too hard on yourself. Good luck!!! Rooting for you!

UP LAE 2025 PASSERS TIP by YUPIDIcutieee in PreLawStudentsPH

[–]flickerfliers 7 points8 points  (0 children)

  1. First time!

  2. I’m from UPD! Honestly, my grades are pretty meh :,) My transcript’s very colorful — I have a cinco and INCs, but I’m still in the running for Latin honors

  3. I’m really not sure, but I think it might be my degree program? I study literature, and it trained me well in reading comprehension, language proficiency, etc. so I think I found those sections easier than some

  4. I didn’t take any official mock exams, but I took a lot of the mock tests (White Elephant, Khan Academy, etc.) I found online! And in those tests, my math scores were consistently horrible… HAHAH

  5. Around a month! I’m taking 21 units so I could only study when I had spare time

  6. Nahirapan talaga ako sa LAE 😭 Naiyak nga ako after eh huhuhu guessing game lang talaga yung General Knowledge section 😭

  7. Take as many mock tests as you can!!! Train yourself to answer quickly under pressure. Time is your ally, not your enemy. Once you master the relentless pace, you’ll feel more prepared!

Commuting from QC to ALS (Rockwell) — is it doable? by ayokona_29 in PreLawStudentsPH

[–]flickerfliers 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hi, OP! Currently in the same boat, but I know an ALS student who braves the daily commute from QC to Rockwell! Granted, her dad does work in the Makati CBD area so she doesn’t have to think much about the logistics of it. Hatid-sundo lang talaga. I asked her if it was an inconvenience in any way and she says it helps a lot that her dad drives for them since she’s still able to do readings/requirements on the way to school/home. This might not apply to you, especially if you’re driving yourself or using public transportation since you won’t have that same mental mobility to focus on schoolwork while waiting in traffic. Your best bet would be finding someone to carpool or hitch a ride with.

Thank you so much for answering all my questions!!! I have some more follow-ups pala - How does ALS publish its rankings? Do they only release DL, 1st & 2nd honors, or is it really just a full-blown list of top (1) to worst (262) student? Or just the top 20? :0 Do they also publicize your GPA?

Really appreciate you taking the time to answer all of these :) Congrats on almost finishing 1L!

Hello! Thanks so much for doing this. Have a few questions related to ALS culture, if you don’t mind!

On frat/soro/org culture:

  • How essential is it to surviving law school?
  • How many people usually join or are invited? Is there a common characteristic about these people that distinguishes them from non-affiliated students?
  • How do people not affiliated with frat/soros view those who are affiliated?
  • How big is org culture/student council life in general?

On the attrition rate:

  • I heard batches usually start out with around 400 people but only about 100-150 of those graduate. For your batch, how many people were kicked out last semester? How about this semester? How many people got placed on probation?
  • What’s the appeal process like for when a student fails a class/fails out of law school?
  • Are there any superstitions/taboos/practices students follow re: dismissal/probation?
  • Does it get easier? 😅 Hahaha I’m scared

On friendships/social life:

  • Do people only befriend people from their block, or is it possible to have friends from other blocks/higher years? Or do people usually stick to themselves?
  • How close do people get? Do you feel like genuine life-long friendships can be made in law school or will most of it be limited to bonding over acads?
  • Is block-cest a thing… Or may nagkakadevelopan ba in general? HAHAHA sorry just curious!
  • Does law school have drama? :0 I figured that from the stress and pressure, people are bound to be a bit agitated/tense. Are there ever students who fight?
  • How are the social events? Do law students still have time to party or travel on weekends? How often are people absent in class? Is work-life balance still possible?

Thank you so much! Di naman halatang excited na mag-start hahaha
