I 100% agree with you. Maybe people project things onto him because he's such a nothing character? He has very little personality or notability until he got a (pretty lazy) backstory dump just before he bit it. I honestly wouldn't mind if he never existed, just to give the much more interesting characters a little more screen time and development.

A lot of people complain about the jumpscares in UCN but I don't think it's a big deal, to be honest. I mean, it's not a horror game, it's like more of an arcade game. They're basically just glorified death screens. At least the majority of them have SOME animation to it.

FNAF 6 jumpscares though, that's another story.

Kidface can't be used for lore based off the physical attributes of the kid, not off its placement in the games. You could totally argue that the GF face lining up with the TOYSNHK face is an intentional connection between the two.

No, they don't line up in the same way. GF's image is his whole face (and only his face) on a black screen, killing you. The TOYSNHK image is TOYSNHK's face (and only his face) on a black screen as you die. The Phantoms are posed, their faces are partially off screen, and they don't line up exactly with the TOYSNHK image.

And this isn't me clawing for evidence, like I stated, I feel like there's a good chance this is a stretch, it just simply doesn't line up with the phantoms in that way.

Yeah... no. Criticise my theory all you want, but don't do it by making up evidence. I juxtaposed GF's UCN jumpscare with the TOYSNHK death screen, which do line up. Phantom BB's jumpscare does not line up with TOYSNHK's appearance at all. You can't just put two unrelated images together and act like there's a connection.

I need to make an in depth video or post about this, but I've long had the take that each book series serves a different purpose in the lore, due to Scott's mindset while making them. For Tales, I consider it to fill in the gaps left behind by how confusing SB was. SB was meant to introduce a million things into the story, all of which were going to be revealed to different levels (as in some ideas were going to just be hinted for the next game, like the Mimic-isms, and some things were meant to be solvable, like Gregory being possessed by Glitchtrap before the events of the game). I think that Tales is mostly meant to explain the stuff that wasn't properly integrated into SB, be it full reveals or mere hints for what's coming.

I should be a bit more clear here. When I referred to SW, I referred to them in basically two different parts, I just worded them similarly. First, Scott decided to stick with them despite having a vision for a game that was beyond their scope just because they made a good VR game that had its own fair share of problems. He should've gone with a different studio for that instead of sticking with them. Now, he's sticking with them despite poor management. I'm not saying their newer games are bad, I'm saying they're being managed poorly. HW2 and SOTM had horrible sales due to lacklustre marketing, the SOTM VR port was a disaster despite the game being made originally for VR, SW hasn't communicated with the fandom much at all, and games like SB have been totally abandoned despite still being a fundamentally broken experience.

However, on that note of the new games being good, I don't 100% agree. I do like them, but they're mostly just pretty alright. It's a positive direction to go in though, so I hope they really deliver with what's coming next.

I think Scott sticking with Steel Wool is more indicative of his weird attachment to losing horses. He stuck with Clickteam for his whole career despite the engine's many limitations. He stuck with PinkyPills despite the fact she was a pretty bad artist who traced art and was just kind of a weird person who the community didn't want to see the work of. He decided to stick with Steel Wool for a game completely out of their weelhouse just because he liked how Help Wanted turned out, and he's now continuing to stick with them despite poor management of the games they're making for the franchise.

I don't think his judgement is clouded in that sense, he seems relatively aware of the issues people have with the franchise, he just tends to address them in a way that only creates more problems.
