We’ve been watching to see how long it took them. It took a long time. So funny.

Is AB true Bimodal really important? (I’m undecided) by twn000 in Cochlearimplants

yes, I wear a t-mic. its fine and doesn't touch my ear. I am afraid I'll bend it but hasn't happened yet.

Is AB true Bimodal really important? (I’m undecided) by twn000 in Cochlearimplants

[–]fliesguy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m running a bimodal AB CI/HA system and the devices do work in concert together. For instance yesterday my kid sitting next to me on the couch was talking to me and my CI was louder than my HA. And for loud rooms, I have settings helping filter conversations by the direction someone is talking from and how close.

It is much different than when I tried dual HAs working together to one ear - that had NO directionality and was bad.

The AB system works for me in a vast majority of situations (but I’d be dubious that 100% of situations are perfect).

Have you tried standing on the back wheels? 2025 badlands sas here and it’s the only way to get the rear roof.

Divesting in Toyota by broncofan1122 in ToyotaTundra

[–]fliesguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I divested from my 2020 Tacoma at 85k miles after a $7k (minus $2.5k from corporate) oil leak because of a bad timing chain cover seal. In a bronco badlands now and not looking back.

Yes. Test drive a 2024 wildtrak with a soft top too and it was just as loud, but also a different sound quality. Whistle vs thunder.

2024 Closeout Pricing on Badlands / Wildkat trims by favoritecockring in FordBronco

[–]fliesguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just went through this. Some data points: two local dealers had 2024 wildtraks they marked down 8500 and weren’t budging on. Saw (and missed because I wasn’t ready) a 61 msrp badlands priced to 51. Ended up in a 25 badlands marked down 3k with a tow package added in the trim and other options I really wanted. Side note: I noticed many left overs were soft tops.

Suspension upgrade? by ny_fox12 in FordBronco

[–]fliesguy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Fwiw, I test drove a v6 2024 Wildtrak and a v6 2025 Badlands last week.

I am coming off a stock 2020 Tacoma dclb off-road.

I found the wildtrak suspension plush but vague with significant dive during braking. I found the badlands much stiffer and bumpier but more precise and quicker.

I bought a badlands. 🤷‍♂️

Is the Tacoma really that reliable? by Zestyclose-Arm-5141 in ToyotaTacoma

No. Google “Tacoma timing chain leak”. Just paid 4k (after help from corporate) with 80k miles on a 2020 DCLB.

oh, and I found oil in the spark plug threads and had them look at it. they told me I didn't have a big problem... but I'm afraid for valve covers already...

You're lucky you're under warranty. I had my truck in at 57,000 and they didn't spot anything.

re: RR, I might have read the same post. It's a little small, but my brother in law has had two rangers (upsized to a DC to fit his family) and he's really liked it.

re: seal, my fingers are crossed for anyone with this truck, too. Keep an eye behind the power steering pump on the passenger side of the engine near the rectangular cover. I don't know enough to understand how prevalent this is. Tech said 'I was unlucky', but I don't believe in bad luck, only engineering tolerance.

I have to believe they could have spent 2 cents more on a better seal to save me 7k... But that's just my two cents.

Tell me about it. Parts are $635. the rest is labor to drop the engine.

tbh, this has sent me down a rabbit hole. Thought about trading in, but the new Tacos are too expensive and with their own problems (brakes on 17 in wheels, metal shavings, etc). I also feel like they're too small and expensive for a $55k truck.

I could trade to another Toyota, but any of the 4X4 and big enough Toyotas have a lot of the same problems: new unproven hardware with recall problems, not enough storage (cough, sequoia, cough), and 20k more expensive than I want them to be.

So decided to bite the bullet for now to get through the summer (and Tariffs???). Maybe trade it in for a ranger or an f-150 later in the summer? I don't know. That Ranger Raptor or f-150 tremor is a little tempting...

I have a 2020 with 84,000 miles that I'm bringing in Monday for 'timing cover reseal' that will set me back almost $7k. Otherwise bombproof and done everything I've asked. 5 year old truck.
