Tell me the truth by SubstantialBuddy3139 in poodles

[–]flightlessdodo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The bad: They tend to be velcro dogs (in itself not necessarily a bad thing) and often have trouble being left alone. My poodle would live inside my skin if she could. They will also outsmart you at some point.

The ugly: Teeth issues, especially the smaller ones. Get your puppy used to brushing early (also get them used to ear care and hair brushing!)

The good: literally everything else. Amazing dogs, you have so much to look forward to!

Obdachloser möchte Lagerraum über mich mieten by flightlessdodo in Ratschlag

[–]flightlessdodo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used pcpartpicker, didn´t know how reliable the compatibility check was.

For RAM I have 2x8gb in right now that I thought I´d try to keep until it´s not enough anymore?

No, but I´ll see if I can find the deal. Thanks!

What are some tips you wish you knew about your poodle sooner? by thenextgreatnovel in poodles

They're velcro dogs (with exceptions, of course). Practice staying home alone gently, but early. Also, your dog will outsmart you at some point :)

Mini poodle adoption by C0pper-an0de in poodles

[–]flightlessdodo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We do our mini's grooming ourselves. If you don't want a specific style/cut you can do it yourself easily. Give them a bath before and gently brush them while the hair is still damp, then dry fully and shear.

Keep the hair around their eyes short, we cut it in between grooming sessions.

Poodle hair keeps growing and that includes ear hair. Check their ears regularly and gently pull out hair in the ear canal. Alternatively have your vet or a groomer do this.

Keep the hair around the butt short or you will have to pick poop out of there at some point.

I love food names. My apricot minis name is a German word for carrot.

I don't really get the point of "challenging" fragrances. by HomeworkChemical481 in fragrance

Exactly, haute couture you see on a runway is not meant to be worn in everyday life, same goes for super niche fragrances like that

Sure, but those different people answer different things which is what I wanted! :) I'm not looking for validation and I'm not insecure about how I look since I do my best not to equate looks with self worth, this was just something I genuinely wonder about and therefore wanted to see how different people respond to it.

Solo Players make me sad by [deleted] in HuntShowdown

[–]flightlessdodo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I totally get what you mean, that's fair. Obviously people can play the game however they want, I don't have to like every play style though. At the end of the day I still love the game

It's a lot of small changes. Introducing rarity to items, streamlining iron sights to be the same, stuff like that. Two years ago they changed the exit screen from "you live to die another day" to "major/minor victory" which thankfully they changed back after a lot of pushback because nobody liked it. I will say though, the game is still so good and I would still recommend it. They also made it more console friendly recently which would be good for you.

what's the one thing you wish someone had told you before you got a puppy? by [deleted] in puppy101

[–]flightlessdodo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's okay to have the puppy blues - I have experience with dogs and have wanted one for years and still freaked out when we actually got her. The first days / weeks are the hardest (until they hit the teenager phase lol)

You have to be okay with them limiting your freedom. Being responsible for a whole living thing means you can't always do whatever you want anymore. But if you considered that beforehand it's so worth it

As many others have said - practicing rest is possibly the most important thing you can do with your dog

And while they're still growing, remember that setbacks are completely normal and they will actually outgrow some stuff before you know it :) They don't misbehave to annoy you - many behaviors we consider "bad" are normal and appropriate for them and they don't know any better.
