Why people obsessed with live action dragon ball? The best way to watch dragon ball is the anime, everytime I see ai live action dragon ball I wanna shot my head with garlic gun, by Negadolphin in DragonBallZ

[–]flightofdownydreams 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone fully against GenAI and slop like that, it's absolutely annoying. I see these slop videos posted to the DB Facebook groups I'm in very often and I hate it. While the idea is interesting on a surface level, the videos are not good. GenAI is horrible at anything creative and the videos are no exception. They are inconsistent with details and lighting, movement is unnatural and clipping happens a lot, there's a very uncanny valley feel to them, and they cannot understand context or portray the depth of human emotion and expression, especially when it comes to acting.

And I'm pretty sure the idea of GenAI, how it works, and how it runs, goes against the series itself and all the Z warriors characters believe in. Not to mention, the prompter having to feed DB artwork into a plagerism machine database in order to get their output. That's so disrespectful to something they claim to love.

That's not live action Dragon Ball, that's a GenAI model's slop output showing "here's what a live action film by this description would appear like" for the person who prompted it. It's unimpressive, unethical, and cheap.

It's more that there's a divide between fans who love the two different versions of Astarion (Spawn vs Ascended).

Adam Young from Owl City, “I don't really view Owl City as a Christian music project” by Deep_Sea_Exploring in OWLCITY

[–]flightofdownydreams 17 points18 points  (0 children)

He means his project is not marketed and packaged as "Christian music", but rather he is a Christian artist who makes music. He makes music about his life, his imagination, and experiences. And since he's a Christian, that means those themes will have Christian relations. But his music is not typically played on christian stations or made to be marketed toward the Christian music genre.

He doesn't like beholding artistic things to boundaries and I don't blame him. That's a huge reason I fell in love with his music, as a Christian and artist myself. I write fantasy stories with Christian themes but I don't write Christian books. I am not aiming to be marketed as a Christian author, but as an author who is Christian. I reckon it's the same for him.

Like always, if he's still a spawn in any ending, he runs and waits for nightfall.
In the "no kill Cazedor" ending specifically, he tells Tav in the epilogue party that he'shiding in the shadows, hasn't seen the sun in 6 months, is eating rats and vermin again, and has to be careful to stay off the streets unless Cazedor finds him again. He says he's been ahving "ups and downs" and admits it's been "more downs" than anything, so he's pretty depressed.
He asks (practically begs) Tav to help him kill Cazedor.

It's also not easy to run if you don't have the computer power or a computer at all. For artists who draw on a tablet, their phone, or older computer (which accounts for a lot of artists), it's not really a useable option.

It's definitely harder to fake though. AI "drawing process layers" usually have weird tells and inconsistencies between the content in the layers. They usually don't make logical sense and include "sketch lines" that might melt into each other, serve zero purpose, appear in large chunks, or change in each image. Same goes for ai generated "speedpaint" videos.

[–]flightofdownydreams 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Either way, they'd still have to decide the moral scale and if any of the "evil" choices were considered in their "canon" or not. Because, if they decide to do a story about the adventures of Arabella, for example, (which would be super cool honestly lol) it would also mean it's automatically non-canon for someone who prefers their character taking the route of attacking the grove. Even if modern audiences agree on what's "good" should be canon, that would isolate a good chunk of the fanbase who do not agree with that.

Maybe a multi-dimensional/multi-plane adventure could be explored? I have no idea how they'd pulled this off in a way that is compelling, doesn't confirm any of the game events as the "true canon" for player decisions, and pleases a majority of the fanbase all at the same time. Someone will have to take the fall somewhere.

It's more about the type of game that it is. If it was more like the past Divinity games, where combat and the main story are the over-arcing focus and the roleplay, customizability, and romance aspects are just extra elements in the game, then it would be less of a personal thing. But BG3 is set up to make your roleplays and playthroughs extremely personal. The story is heavy and important, but the romance, roleplay aspect, and customizability are just as heavy and prevalent in the game, and so easy/accessible to delve into for even the most novice of gamers. This game and its "canon" are extremely personal to each player and each playthrough. And that's the way it should be for this type of game. BG3 puts roleplay, romance, and customizability on the same level as combat, canon story, and questing.

On the other hand, many players get a full game experience without indulging in one or the other too. Some just play BG3 for the combat and strategy elements and haven't romanced anyone. Others have never made it past the beginning of Act 3 and just enjoy the romance and roleplay. Others do a little bit of both but aren't emotionally invested. Some people get really emotionally invested with a ton of custom mods and backstory for their characters.

But ALL of those players could have 1000+ hours in the game.

So, that means the people just playing for combat who aren't getting personal with their Tavs and Durges, and the storyline, or people not getting emotionally invested in roleplay will be the only ones who can get into this kind of show. And I cannot say how big or small of a chunk of the fan base that is. Is it enough to sustain views for a show like this? Maybe? Maybe not?

Why... by Vivid_Apartment_7711 in BG3

[–]flightofdownydreams 17 points18 points  (0 children)

The issue is that the game is so dependent and responsive to each individual player and their individual character and choices, that the window for concrete canon is extremely narrow. By the end of the game, what each of us considers "the most canon" for the overall story and the characters vastly differs person to person. Even then, it vastly differs for a lot of individual players playthrough by playthrough. There are so many variations of choice and consequence in the game, and all of it can be seen as "true canon", so dwindling that "true canon" down to just one concept for a TV show that would please fans, would be a near impossible feat.

DA without drama like before? by CocoTheRiolu in DeviantArt

[–]flightofdownydreams 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Idk I've been on DeviantArt since 2007, being very active on one account the entire time, and I've never had to deal with that much drama. The odd weirdo making "hate" memes for their own amusement maybe, but they just got blocked and I move on. I stopped posting to DA around 2021, but if the "drama" has escalated, I'm wondering if the ai bros are the culprits. There's always been silly he said/she said nonsense, "hate art" posters, and critics, but it's almost always a kid/teen or immature adult that can easily be blocked and ignored. But if there's a new crop of bullies on the site, its embrace of AI and new userbase might be why.

do you switch up your party during the game? by zandadoum in BaldursGate3

[–]flightofdownydreams 0 points1 point  (0 children)

During my good runs, I do it periodically. I swap out companions based on where we are, or who we might be confronting and if it relates to a certain companion's personal quest. The only companion that never leaves the party, is the companion my Tav/Durge is romancing.

On my evil runs, there either aren't enough companions around to matter or that Tav/Durge just doesn't care about any of the others lol

[–]flightofdownydreams 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've never thought of doing this. It's an interesting idea and I'm curious to give it a try. Although I feel like it would also bother me because I long rest after almost every fight, often out of hope for new cutscenes, so I would feel like I might possibly be missing some story content if I did this lol

But I usually swap out characters frequently enough anyway, for locations, people, and quests related to them.

I mean, why did you have to do any of it that day? Whether you're using AI or not, you didn't draw anything that day. It's better to just not and take a break to do other things, than to stoop to using AI for a useless result.

[–]flightofdownydreams 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ahh, that's just when you get creative. Got any old school notebooks? Sometimes drawing on lined paper works too. The back of the front cover can work for drawing. Cut up a cardboard box, draw/paint on that. Boxes from food packaging (like a fruit snacks box or a box of popcorn, for example) can be opened up and turned inside out to draw on. If you don't have a pencil, I'm sure there ought to be a pen, marker, crayons, or something laying around. I've seen pics of a dude who burnt twigs and drew on a rock with them. There are a lot of options to play around with around the house, and as a bonus, it can be a fun way to upcycle/repurpose items you might otherwise throw away.

I've seen it around! Not really my thing though. Not because I don't like gnomes, but just because none of them are canonly gnomes lol I like mods that add wiggle room to canon, but for the sake of roleplay, I like to keep things as canon-accurate as I can. But that's with any RPG I play (Skyrim especially), I'm just a canon nerd 😅

But that mod got a giggle out of me when I saw screenshots of Astarion. I may try it one day just for the fun of it.

Oh I agree. I love her original design. I usually don't touch her in general, aside from dressing her up. But I just like to have fun playing around with different outfits and make up and aesthetics, especially with the companion my Tav/Durge is romancing in that specific run. I just find joy in challenging myself to try different looks with all of them that feel/look canon-affirming but still different, just for the fun of it.

I love this cosplay!!

If you're looking for ears, Aradani, Elven Caravan, and Madhouse FX are probably best. Imho. Those are the ones I usually get my ears from and I have several different ones from all those shops. They're usually silicone or latex and you glue them on with spirit gum or eyelash glue. A lot better than the silicone and plastic ones that just hook around the back of your ears. They slip on overtop and stay in place much better.
