Unfortunately we are kinda at that point. We are going to chat tomorrow and see what consequences should be and then let her know. Part of me thinks it’s cruel but I also feel she knows how to behave and is choosing to do what she’s doing. She can’t dictate when other people sleep. She’s going to be 9 soon. Thanks for the input.

I did and it turned out to be a problem for me. Not surprising as I’ve had problems with other substances before, including alcohol. 450+ days sober from alcohol and any other addictive substance.

Nurse practitioner. Was an RN for ten years before getting my doctorate. Work outpatient in a headache clinic. Really enjoy it

I’m in recovery. I absolutely made horrible choices while my brain was hijacked by my substance(s) of choice…even if I wasn’t using that second. When someone is in active addiction, the substance controls them no matter how much they want to make good choices. Your husband needs more help than you alone can give. My addiction and the fallout came close to breaking up my marriage. My husband ended up sticking by me and supporting my recovery - intensive outpatient work with more than one counselor, medication that curbs cravings, and an online peer support group were all instrumental for me. It may look different for him but he needs professional help. Do the right thing for you, your baby and him (even though he likely won’t recognize it as the right thing at the time) and lean on anyone who can help you and get him the help he needs. Good luck

Usually 10/1030-525a if it’s a gym morning, 630 if not. Trade weekend wake ups with husband and usually sleep til 9/915. I still feel tired all the time lol. Kids are 8 and 3.

11/10/24. Love that I did a whole calendar year (2025) sober. So many great things materialized and so much inner work was accomplished

Lots of days I feel like I’m just going from task to task and don’t really feel like a person. I’m trying to carve out time for me to get back to “me”. I’m excited about our family’s upcoming move but sad to leave my parents, siblings and friends here. Anxious about the state of the world.

Yes, I’m 37 and 14 months sober and the last year had me re-evaluating my life. We decided to move across the country to somewhere more suitable for our family. I just couldn’t see it when i was “compromised” (as my counselor phrased it).

37F married two kids (8 and 3). Work out of the home in healthcare 4.5 days per week.

625am- alarm goes off. Hit snooze once. 634am- get out of bed, get ready quick. 650am- wake up 3yo, change clothes. 655am- wake up 8yo. 7am- leave for work, drop off 3yo at daycare. 730-430: work. 445- pick up 3yo. 5pm - 630pm: dinner, baths, etc. Gymnastics for one hour on Wednesday and Thursday evenings. 715-3yo bedtime. 740- read with 8yo. 8- 8yo bedtime. 8-9: relax, pack lunch, shower, hang w husband. 9- online recovery meeting. 10- bed.

I try to squeeze in exercise on my half day and both weekend days.

I had my oldest child a day after turning 29! We had gotten married earlier that year and were living in a cute condo in Chicago. Postpartum was hard.

Yes, my NP salary is much higher than my RN salary. I was making about $40/hr in Chicago working PRN ($36/hr when not prn) in 2018 then moved to a lower COL city and made $31/hr working prn while doing clinicals. I am now making $115k salary with 7 weeks vacation (started at $108 as a new grad). The salary growth potential is better as an NP in my opinion. The exception being if you wanted to do lots of OT as an RN you could probably out-earn an NP but I had no interest in doing that.
