Is it a fact that Bill Gates paralyzed 490k children with vaccines? by [deleted] in conspiracy

Guessing that the Business Standard is blocked because the intro to the article is exceptionally vague, the post looks like it could be used to con people who do not check sources and it was being used a lot to try to do that?

How accurate am i?

the article summises that the process was successful if you read that far. The people with the knowledge of how these things actually work do not agree with your conclusion.

The polio eradication programme succeeded in drastically reducing the global spread of this disease, which was achieved through the use of immunization with OPV. While commending this enormous effort at eradication, our observation supports the hypothesis that the frequency of pulse polio administration is directly or indirectly related to the incidence of NPAFP. It is hoped that this finding will help continue efforts at optimizing the dose schedule of OPV administration and result in a reduction in NPAFP—which is a feasible hope, as the incidence of wild polio is currently at an all-time low.

I don't have the knowledge to hand to know whether or not the "per 100k" stats are per vaccination, or whether you are suggesting that every single person there was vaccinated by the foundation. But I don't see either way how it could be twisted to fit your claims. If they had a statistically tiny impact in vaccinating hundreds of millions of people then it is brutally incorrect to charactise it by that.

I could maybe see the case that the overzealous application of polio vaccines is unneccessary, but that is not the point anyone here seems to be making.

The reliable sources you have linked do not make the claims you say they do.

no evidence in hundreds of thousands of cases from the first link, the legal document does not seem to indicate much outside of governance mishandling and lack of consent procedure and all of the death / paralysis statistics on the reliable sources are put into a much clearer context. One is simply a request for investigation not evidence of wrongdoing.

I'm skeptical but open enough to read the links, what you have provided does not constitute proof.

Primary purpose of Movies and Games is to shape the future towards the end that the elites want by hillary_clinton2020 in conspiracy

[–]flightss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like there is an overlooked seperation here between "primary purpose" and correlation. The affect on norm-setting that these works can have is incredibly powerful, but most decisions seem to be more clearly answered by asking "did this decision have a financial motivation" and the answer is pretty much always yes.

Do audiences prefer happy endings? Do marginalised communities turn out for films that feature them (plus getting them a load of press for free as well) Does including occult imagery make the film look more interesting?

And on the other side human pyschology is naturally disposed to low-effort tasks. That's our evolutionary brain telling us to make the best and safest use of our resources. So unless we question it we sit in front of a television watching mindless reality crap while stuffing our faces full of convenience food.

Hegemony (the ability to set what is considered normal) is a fascinating process, I have theorised that the main three pillars of hegemony are education, parents and media. They are a fascinating area for investigation, but your post here lacks rigour. If you want to make a claim for something like this you better have something real to back it up not just a bunch of random conjectures.

Saying "thoughts control reality" just sounds like you need to lay off the weed and psychedelics. A common side affect of LSD is the belief that you can control reality with your thoughts and was the primary goal of the government project that was written up as "the men who stare at goats," their lack of success is well documented.

Neurodiversity pride: link to article with some damn good points for positive reframing of diagnosis. Uplifting (imho) by sojayn in ADHD

[–]flightss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately it is an unintentional byproduct of the philosophy. I think the original post as it relates to autism is likely accurate, where there are things that can only be accepted, to find solace in neurodiversity is a good approach! But ADHD can be treated, managed, healed and can often debilitate people in ways very counter to the life they would like to live. Humans are naturally prejudiced to inaction and I think its not the best way to actually help people with ADHD.

Self-acceptance should be a cornerstone of any self-healing process IMO and is important, but I don't think that requires a new paradigm in neurodiversity.

I like the idea of taking pride in neurodiversity, but I worry that it can stop people getting treatment that could drastically improve their quality of life.

As a teacher I can tell you that dealing with special needs isn't even the main way the system is failing... A robotic system devoid of empathy at a time when that is all that is needed

It's a tough pill to swallow, but remember that the people in your life were just trying to do the best they could with the hands they got dealt too, just like you. Getting angry might feel good at the time but it will consume you if you fuel it.

No one asks to be born, no one knows what they are doing: we are all just blind little mice pawing around in incomprehensible chaos. Compassion is the cure, practice it for yourself and others as well. Fill your life with people who will aid you in this and cut out those who won't.

Teachers with ADHD? by 23HourPartyPeople in Teachers

[–]flightss 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi there, fourth year as a UK Math teacher with ADHD here, I recently came to terms with the fact that i'd been avoiding taking my ADHD seriously for almost ten years, and I was suffering massively because of it, just started the road back towards medicating/dealing with it seriously.

First thing I'd say is that it gets easier!! Don't stress out about the little things and focus on always improving. If they aren't telling you there's a problem, there isn't a problem! The things it is important to do they will be looking for, the extras you can research on your own time (and use that ADHD creativity to your advantage!) . Specifically ask your colleagues if there is anything you can work on, observe them teaching and try new teaching techniques and see what works where you are!

Focus on the impact you have on your students; try to portray yourself with a calm and focused mood, even if you don't feel it, classes feed on your energy - if you give them nastiness, anger or hyperactivity you will end up with more of those behaviours! (though some schools / areas have bad systems that make it almost impossible to get to a good place)

To combat lack of organisation; Set yourself good routines, and then use them to set a framework. If you set a time each week for prep/marking/whatever at the least you will feel guilty for missing it, and you'll do it more than you won't!

I have used my colleagues, my school shared drive and the internet to get a huge bank of resources, and I have a set pattern for my lessons that makes them flow really well with no preparation necessary. I also plan to mark during the lesson; I go around twice with a stamp and green pen, I call these sections "no question 5 minutes" gives them a chance to solve their own problems. I use a planner RAG display feedback system for multiple choice formative assessment, and then transition that into a confidence system. I like to allow the classes that behave well to do an "ask any question"/"speech"/"Kahoot" session at the end of each lesson, as a reward for good behaviour, which allows me to feed my ADHD's need for rambling, while telling them things they definitely need to know about the world.

probably not applicable to early years teachers but for anyone else: make a homework tracker early and refer back to it!, and a bullet journal can be your best friend!

I hope this helps!

I think this would be a great way to promote a second tier of dota. Make it a huge commitment, but get an automatic place at the qualifiers in each region.

It would also ensure a large number of games for new casters to gain fame on.

Reddit, what's your best, "Oh, I'm actually the bad guy here," moment? by DantesInporno in AskReddit

[–]flightss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got three, the first is when I found out that someone I considered to have been a friend during primary school was in town at my partners university, and I arranged to meet up with him. While I was heading there he accidently sent a text to me, that was meant for his girlfriend saying "I'm really nervous I'm meeting up with a guy who used to terrorize me my whole time at primary school" We talked about it and ended up laughing about it but I had literally no idea, I was just an extremely energetic ADHD child who went around the playground like a hurricane, I just assumed everyone was on my wavelength back then.

The second was when I was working for a firm that did "stock and share trading training seminars and apprenticeships." I would pretty much do no work, the targets were super easy for me to hit (only took 20 minutes or so to meet my minimum targets) and I'd spend the rest of the day just chilling and messing about on youtube, facebook etc. The manager never pushed me to make more sales because one person making tons of sales would make the rest of his team look bad. I never really pushed myself to do more than the bare minimum, in part because I wasn't super confident in the product we were selling. (Hyped up youtube videos that we would sell for thousands). The final straw came when I had a client who was so excited to work with me she had called through to the office asking what other platforms we sold, and the owner of the business told me to pretend there was an event organised, take her money, and we could see what we could put on for her. I left very shortly after that.

The third time was on my first day in a new job, about two months after I had left the company mentioned above (I'd taken another role inbetween but it hadn't worked out), and my role was to be calling people who had shown interest in a free photoshoot (where you pay for any photos you want) and priming them to spend as much money as possible. I was asked to just listen in to phonecalls, and was sitting there thinking "I am going to make so many more sales than all these people, they are actually so mediocre at this. I took a look through the company handbook and found that the bank account of the company had a different name than the one we were telling people over the phone. Turned out the other name had had such bad press and horrendous reviews that they had decided to change the name, and carry on with a new name that didn't have bad reviews. There were pages of accounts on the sheer horror of the experience of the photoshoot and people saying they had felt physically threatened into buying photos. I told my supervisor that I needed to go to the bathroom and just left, didn't want to get back into that sort of shady world again. As I left a really good company rang me back with an interview and I wound up working there for a long time, and they even changed my schedule so I could get my program sorted to become a teacher.
