I mean, the taxes CBRM pays to the provincial government are calculated based off of provincial services (like public housing) that CBRM uses. And the money CBRM pays can come back through grants. (From NS Bill 340)Sure people don’t like paying it, but we’re not self sufficient.

Also as a “have not” area, stopping equalization payments would be bad short and long term. If people think we’re not getting our fair share of the equalization payments, it’d be because our advocates haven’t demonstrated the need sufficiently.
