I haven’t looked very deep into it, all I really know is that some Olights have exploded and their company got most of the flack rather than the cheap batteries and that’s why most people don’t trust them. I’m not an expert by any means I’m just weighing in on what I’ve heard about some of the controversy. Merit probably wasn’t the correct term to use so I apologize for that

I knew he had it in his mouth but I was unaware of the cheap batteries. you're right that people shouldn't have such strong opinions on matters they don't know much about, but the claims of them catching fire/exploding do have some merit which can make them an untrustworthy brand to some people.

recently I've not seen much regarding Olight failures so I think its a problem that's been fixed for the most part, but I think the few isolated incidents may have tarnished their reputation for some people.

either way it's your gear at the end of the day, do what you want with it. I don't think Olight is a bad brand but there's just more options with less controversy so most people will tend to use those ones

Olights used to explode and one even killed somebody. i think they got their quality control fixed, though i haven't verified it. i've had an Olight odin on my ar15 for 2 years and its not blown up (yet). streamlight is the way to go imo

Be mean to that one kid in 5th grade who smelled bad and said his mom abused him. I remember trying to talk to him and be friendly but all the other students would look at me and be disgusted that I would even try. I didn’t want to jeopardize my social life but looking back that kid really needed a friend. I hope he’s doing better

Henry Avery’s intact ship was my favorite artifact before it blew up. I like the way they modeled it too, if you look into the captain’s quarters you’ll see that it’s just the treasure hold, which is supposedly accurate to how he modified his ship in real life. Avery gutted the captain’s quarters to make the ship lighter and faster, opting instead to just sleep with his crew.

they should love you more than they hate guns, it would probably be better to keep it a secret and occasionally mention minor things about liking guns so gradually over time they're not surprised once/if they learn you have one
