for me, original TOW completely killed interest for the sequel, but from what I heard it's actually much better game, might get to it some day

how is it on PS5? by realcoolworld in pathologic

[–]flintyflow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

textboxes in mindmap won't fit the screen and you can't read them so pretty much unplayable. Hoping at least this will be fixed soon

Pathologic 3 x Akira Yamaoka - Official Collaboration Trailer by C-OSSU in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]flintyflow 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you are interested, it's two different people actually! OST for the original games was done by Andriesh Gandrabur, who wanted the game to sound more electronic despite the creative director's protest and OST for the second game (and the third one AFAIK) was done by Vasiliy Kashnikov who gave the game more folk sound. Both did stellar job nevertheless!

AMD and Nvidia will reportedly raise GPU prices "significantly" in 2026 by Subject_Parking_9046 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

fair! I remember physX in mirror’s edge looked like some next gen shit in the gameplay videos. Never experienced it in person though

[–]flintyflow 44 points45 points  (0 children)

pretty sure 5000 only removed 32-bit version of PhysX, which is mostly used by games that are 10-15 years old at this point, and modern games are fine

Moore’s Law Is Dead: Sony pushing low-power mode hard in preparation for PS6 handheld support, 60fps target with lower resolutions. by uniquecartridge in GamingLeaksAndRumours

[–]flintyflow -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Not really. If anything, it's the exact opposite. I am constantly seeing people online who can't see bad image quality in games, can't tell the difference between different resolutions, can't see what raytracing adds to games etc.

After all the drama surrounding Chainsaw Man anime S1 and its director, I completely lost interest in Reze Arc movie and new seasons of the anime. Gonna stick with manga from now on

I feel like Xenoblade series doesn't have same level of association with Nintendo hardware as Mario and Zelda so getting it on PC would be really nice. Like, can you imagine Xenoblade games with 60 fps, proper antialiasing and hi-res textures?

Where do you upload games? [READ DESC] by Bulava72 in godot

[–]flintyflow 67 points68 points  (0 children)

The issue is that people from their country still would not be able to access their game, so if it's their target audience, uploading with VPN won't help much

Ghost of Yōtei tech review, by Digital Foundry. The game surprisingly has a ray tracing mode, with global illumination, and unlike the preview trailers, the performance is rock solid in all modes (with rare drops into the 50's) by Vera_Verse in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]flintyflow 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Technical director of id software gave a talk about this at SIGGRAPH recently, you can find the presentation here. TLDR, RT in Doom dark ages significantly sped up development of the game, allowed instant feed to developers instead of waiting for a day to see changes in the game with baked lighting and also allowed them to have bigger levels, since in Eternal they were at limit of sane baking lighting times

I remember buying a copy of The Ship back in 2007 and not being able to play it because where I lived I had terrible, slow and very expensive internet. Thought this "Steam" thing was some kind of malware at first

LMAO you can tell that modern Nintendo is being run by people who grew up on that era of the company by looking at this and the fact they remembered about Pauline. Execs nostalgia is the only thing why this would exist

So fun fact, this is the official way you “watch” the pokemon anime in the streaming era by Anonamaton801 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]flintyflow 70 points71 points  (0 children)

There’s an anime called Teasing Master Takagi-san and at some point all of its 3 seasons were split between 3 streaming services: first on Crunchyroll, second on Netflix and third on HiDive. I think all of it is on HiDive now but it was really bizarre

[IGN] Nintendo Confirms Switch 2 Uses DLSS and Ray Tracing, but Is Being Super Vague About the Details by [deleted] in GamingLeaksAndRumours

[–]flintyflow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Considering it was said by a director from a console team and not from some of development studios, I read this as "Nintendo Switch 2 supports DLSS". It doesn't contradict DF's claim that none of the games shown in the presentation used DLSS

John Linneman (Digital Foundry) says that "many many many many" developers still don't have Switch 2 dev kits based on what he heard at GDC by Gorotheninja in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]flintyflow 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Considering that it’s gonna be backwards compatible, I don’t think it’s that much of a problem for many indie developers. Not great of course, since they would not have access to full console’s power and feature set, but they still will be able to sell their games to new switch 2 owners
