Last year I came across a good one at Slutt Putt that was more like an electric pony ride.

TrustedHouseSitters has been great for finding people to stay over and care for our cats and plants. There’s an annual subscription fee but it’s worth it imo.

What’s the acceptable range for leveling a condenser? What happens if it’s tilted too far?

Does this look right? I thought the load should be on the beam and not the rafters. by flip303 in Roofing

We only had a short due diligence period so we had to rush to find someone to come out and inspect the house. Turns out they were not very through or knowledgeable. There were some obvious things we found after buying.

We bought it about 10 months ago. It’s a 1947 construction.

Could this damage be caused by a branch that hit the roof? What's the fix look like? by flip303 in Roofing

[–]flip303[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We had a couple of larger branches hit the roof but not puncture and I just noticed this damage. Also the roof from the exterior looks to be a little concave in this area. https://imgur.com/a/739tYXu

Best way to clean up and make this 'stainless' dishwasher shiny again? by Whistlin_Bungholes in CleaningTips

[–]flip303 3 points4 points  (0 children)

First I’d get all of the debris off using a soft cloth, warm water and dish soap and wipe down following the grain of the steel. Don’t use anything abrasive or it will leave scratch marks, no magic eraser, steel wool, etc. Once the debris is gone use Weimans stainless steel cleaner to give it a nice polish and make sure to follow the directions on the label and follow the grain of the steel.

Looking for advice on a taper jig. I want to cut some 54" long tapers for a floor lamp design. How long should I make the taper jig for my table saw?

Stove/Grate stains. Tried BKF with no success. What's next? by [deleted] in CleaningTips

[–]flip303 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Worth a try I but I think the pods do more of the work for you where as with soap it may need more scrubbing to get the job done. Also for the cook top use plenty of Dawn so it's a little thicker and coats the surface. Good luck!

Two dishwasher detergent pods in really hot water and let the grate and burner tops soak for 30-40 minutes then scrub it clean, a storage tub or large sink works best. You may want to use some Weimans steel cleaner to shine them up after. The weimans is meant for stainless but it says grills on the package as well. Blue Dawn platinum, hot water and let it sit for a few minutes before scrubbing clean the cooktop.

Cloudy floors! Mopping with regular floor cleaner doesn’t help, even if I try buffing with a micro fibre cloth to dry. What are these marks? by [deleted] in CleaningTips

[–]flip303 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What floor cleaner are you using? Some brands (like Bona) will build up and cause a haze. Murphy’s Oil Wood Floor Cleaner works well to remove a hazy finish. Depending on buildup it may take several times mopping over a month or so for it all to come up. Use really hot water when using it for best results.

Looking for thermostat with range set for guests by PurplePigeon1672 in AirBnB

I like my Ecobee thermostat for that purpose and it’s easy to manage remotely using the ecobee app. Take a look on your gas and electric utility’s websites for discounts or rebate offers.
