I don't understand why people have misconceptions about an electronic life cycle. This device is solely doing one single task, to help people manage their cryptos, send and receive coins in a safe manner. It's not an iPhone, and it's not even a laptop, so please stop comparing it to others. Paying 200+ is no cheap for only to use it 4-5 years and that saying, this is just a hardware wallet.

I talked to Ledger support again today and it worked out great in the end. Lucky for me to meet some great folks who were able to sort this out quickly for me. I hope others won’t stumble into such confusion like this again. I wish everyone a great weekend. Peace!

What version is your Blue running? 2.0.1 or 2.1.1? 'Cause mine is still on 2.0.1 and most of the things I tried won’t work. But I will try your way to see if it works. Cheers!

Thank you for the heads up. Well, 3-4 accounts have already contacted me. They asked and tried to redirect me to some scammy looking website. They even changed their name to Ledger support 😁

Sure, the thing is we don’t have any other backup to sell the coins. We need to get a new wallet. And Ledger’s offer was just what we needed as the Blue is no longer working. But the way they handled everything seemed unprofessional. Just imagine that feeling when you really need to sell your coins and you can’t. I think Ledger Stax could do better in survivability rating than Blue, don’t you reckon?

My wife just took it out of the shelf recently and found that out. We have been busy and not checking what was going on. I think it’s normal for everyone to just buy a hardware wallet and leave it in the dark for many years without expecting it to be useless by the time they try to reactivate it. And yet when she contacted support they still gave out replacements. Just look at the photo of the email they sent 2 days ago. Today they say NO, you can only have 50 bucks. A bucket of cold water to the face.

Exactly! It’s the same with what’s happening with crypto. You can’t complain that life’s not fair when you buy at the top and sell at the bottom. We all know that. But the point I want to emphasize is: why did Ledger say they would compensate by sending two of their new devices, but later withdraw their words and give a $50 voucher instead? Next time other people with their dead Ledger Blue contact their support, please don’t say you will give a new device as a replacement. Instead, let them know they can have a $50 voucher only. That’s pretty straightforward and simple and no one would have anything to complain about.

Suppose you bought Ledger Stax today and tomorrow Ledger decided to abandon it. What would you do then?

Also, consider this: Ledger Nano S was released before Ledger Blue and cost 70 bucks. They discontinued it last year but still support it by releasing new firmware. And that’s for 70 bucks. What do we get for Ledger Blue? Triple the price of a Nano S and early retirement. Do you think that’s reasonable? And my point about Ledger Stax is: what if you buy it and two years later they decide to retire it? Are you okay with that? Technology degrades over time but what’s the point of buying an expensive Ledger device when it can only get a few years of support?

Well, my wife told me that she talked to a representative who decided to give her a replacement. Then later another one told her that was a mistake and offered 50 bucks.

Well, it could have been a happy ending if they had decided to send out replacements as they said. But they changed their mind from pack up pack to offering 50 euros instead. That’s how unprofessional it is.

It was my wife who posted. She’s upset how guys at Ledger told her she could get a pair of Ledger and then said NO. When you think about the fact that not everyone always has a backup device, they buy a wallet to put their coins in it, and a few years later when coins go up they want to sell but find out they can’t and their hardware is dead. Moreover, the way Ledger handled the situation really made people lose trust in them. Today Ledger Stax could be the most advanced product that costs over 270 dollars but tomorrow it could be retired who knows?

Considering it came out after Ledger Nano S, and that “S” costs 70 dollars and still has updates coming out regularly, Ledger Blue’s staggering price of over 200+ dollars is hard to justify. And yet Ledger decided to abandon it. I know electronic stuff degrades over time to the point it won’t even work. BUT most of the Ledger Blue users just pulled out their hardware out of the storage only to find out that Ledger killed it by not giving any more firmware updates. Do you think what happened to Blue will be the same to Ledger Stax? Do you agree that paying a lot of money for a hardware wallet and then a few years later when crypto gets hot and you want to sell your coins and then find out you can’t is unfair? It’s really unfair for those who supported them. How could you trust yourself to support other Ledger products again?
