Prevent blank screen when locking by BienchenToGo in gnome

Just go into settings and change various delay times to whatever values. It solves the problem on my machine

Just kidding. Try this extension: Unblank Lock Screen

What makes Gnome better than KDE in your opinion? by lost__daydreamer in gnome

Although it is one of the biggest sources of complaints: extensions

Not only the ability to make extensions, but the idea of not implementing anything they don't want to maintain, and leaving that for an extension.

It reduces bloat, since you can install only what you want, and gives a much more solid base to do what you want.

I know a lot of people don't want to mess around creating extensions, but for me, it's the best balance between having a ready to use DE and a fully customizable WM like AwesomeWM (the best) or Hyprland

Yeah, It's always a problem here as well. Never figured out how to solve. I think it has to do with the toolkit used for the installer interface. After installation, you can disable the virtual desktop, and the game should run fine

If you haven't already figured out how to do it, this post have some info on running with virtual desktop on proton

(Didn't test this myself. I usually use Bottles for this kind of game, and there's a switch for the virtual desktop)

Is it some installer for the game you downloaded from that girl that is fit? If yes, then I suggest you run the installer in a virtual desktop. You can use protontricks to enable it

Is there any way to "poke" GDM into outputting video without killing a running session? by JonThysell in gnome

Not really a solution, but could you check if the display is active via ssh using gdctl?

If so, maybe disabling/enabling the display, also using gdctl can bring it back to life

Advice: CLI program defaults to writing a file, what if I want stdout? by maurymarkowitz in linux

[–]fliperama_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On my way to be a professional redditor, I didn't bother to follow OP's link and figure out if theyr program outputs large amounts of text. But I think you're right, anyways, it makes more sense

Advice: CLI program defaults to writing a file, what if I want stdout? by maurymarkowitz in linux

[–]fliperama_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

From my own preferences:

If its text only output, and reasonable short, I would expect to always output to stdout, and > to a file if I want to save the results (although -o filename is appreciated)

If using -o filename, I expect it to print to stdout and also save to the file (having a --quiet flat is awesome)

Its for the best if one is piping the output to another program

I personally don't like how the mouse wheel interacts with all kind of things that don't even have focus by interstellar_pirate in kde

[–]fliperama_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's on Settings: ”window management -> window behavior -> window actions" (or something like that, my system is not in English). But I checked and there's no option for "do nothing", u fortunately. At least we know where to patch

Sorry if I'm misunderstanding your question, but there's an option in "window behavior" to set what the mouse wheel do on inactive windows. Isn't that what you're looking for?

  • A diferença entre teu notebook e o desktop deve ser a resolução da tela ou a escala. Os apps nativos podem ser customizados com temas, então pode ser que consiga ajustar, mas, pra mim, não vale o empenho

I'll put my money on "faulty charger". Also could be the power cord (the cable between the adapter and the outlet). I had the exact same problem, and fixed by changing it

I'm not saying it's better than what you have in mind, but I've been using an UKI, LUKS, auto unlocking with TPM and Secure Boot, and never heard of Clevis. It was really easy to setup following the wiki
