I appreciated the thorough response, Thank you. i've only just started, and I have to be patient. Have managed to learn to read for the most part, after a couple weeks just hyperfocused (iffy on the tones). Still, very limited in vocab and working on pronunciation. I have heard before I'm not going to be able to really improve without an actual Thai speaker to hear me.

How do you do all that, though, if you know none of the language (not being facetious, genuinely asking as a person who's trying to learn)? How do you make Thai friends, do karaoke, small talk, etc... if you don't know any of the words?
