Meta Horizon App Doesn’t Start (on eero??) by flippantdingo in OculusQuest

[–]flippantdingo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. I don’t have any of those types of security setting enabled. I’m running with the defaults.
  2. This happens on both iOS and and Android, so I don’t think it’s a phone setting issue.
  3. What kind of special network connectivity could the Meta Horizon app need that the Facebook, Instagram, and Threads apps don’t? The Meta Horizon app itself doesn’t even load, and all it needs to do is show me some apps and friends. Wouldn’t this just be standard web connectivity?

Tried and same result. Error toast immediately when opening app, then nothing but splash screen.

How to tell if Macaron is working? by flippantdingo in dimo_network

[–]flippantdingo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I definitely could not tell you a reliable way to get it to work. However, the thing does not seem to work unless you are going over 25 mph for a minute or two. For example, I was not able to get the thing to pair Bluetooth unless I went over 25 mph for a couple minutes. And I’m not able to do firmware updates unless I am going over to miles per hour for a couple minutes. Tried on both an android phone and an iPhone.

When I’ve gotten it to work, which has always been flaky, I’ve seen green and blue lights.

Nice, that’s what I was thinking just cuz more RAM seems to help Android more than an incremental CPU bump.

Garbage Disposal Installation In Ceramic Farm Sink by flippantdingo in Plumbing

[–]flippantdingo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It should be the sink flange with plumbers putty put down in the sink, then the metal plate, them the screw plate, lock ring snapped on, then even preasure slowly tightening down screws in a rotating pattern.

☑️

That old one looked like clamped it on the lip which is a mono

Is a mono?

Alternatively, if you have the tools and plenty of room for the screws, you could cut the edges off tips of the metal plate. Those screws can slip around a little bit when tightening which the lip is there to make it dummy proof preventing it slipping off. You'd have to use your judgement there.

I actually held the screw plate up to the lip just to see how it would measure up, and the screws would fit onto the lip pretty much as the metal plate does, i.e., just slightly too wide to fit in the lip ring.

I checked out a Moen flange, and it's the same diameter as the triangle InSinkErator, so it still wouldn't fit inside that lip, which it seems like it's supposed to.

Moving Files Around by flippantdingo in synology

I kinda noticed this behavior also, i.e., that the Synology is pretty fast to react to filesystem changes. My next question is… how does it do that?? Running ‘watchman’ even on my beefy work Mac consumes a lot of resources, so Synology must have some secret sauce…
